Jiang Chen was somewhat annoyed. "What an irritating fellow, always causing trouble from morning till night."

There was no other choice; he could only support the injured Jiang Qingyan, limping slowly in the direction Jiang Zhiyue and the others had left, all the while silently cursing Jiang Zhiyue in his heart.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zhiyue and the others had already found a secluded, deserted corner.

“This will do. Uncle, take out the incense wax.”

“Alright.”

Once everything was prepared, Jiang Zhiyue asked him to pull out a few strands of her hair and mix them with the incense wax before lighting it. Although Mingge didn’t understand the reason, he obediently complied.

As the incense burned, Jiang Zhiyue drew a talisman in the air and chanted softly:

“Heaven and Earth, Yin and Yang, all living beings, with this charm as a bridge and incense as a guide, summon the soul here, appear swiftly.”

The moment her words fell, a sudden chill wind swept around them. Despite the scorching summer heat, the coldness penetrated to the bone.

The group shivered unexpectedly.

Mingge stared cautiously at Jiang Zhiyue, his face full of reverence. “Little miss, my grandfather, has he... has he come?”

Though he could see nothing, the sensation was too familiar. Every time his grandfather appeared in his dreams, this oppressive feeling from an elder overwhelmed him.

Jiang Zhiyue pulled a small bottle from her bag and gently rubbed some water inside with her fingertip.

“Yes, he’s here now. But the sun is strong, so he can’t stay long. Speak briefly. Come, I’ll mark your forehead with the Yin-Yang Seal so you can see your grandfather temporarily.”

She then touched Mingge’s forehead with her finger dipped in the Yin-Yang water. “There, it’s done.”

Mingge blinked hard, and as his vision cleared, he suddenly knelt down. “Grandfather!”

Seeing this, the two friends who came with him clasped their fingers tightly, overwhelmed by a strong sense of absurdity.

To their eyes, the spot where Mingge knelt was utterly empty—nothing was there.

“Grandfather, is it really you? Grandpa, why have you been visiting my dreams every night lately?”

The old man said nothing at first, merely giving Mingge a look of stern disappointment before stepping beside Jiang Zhiyue and bowing slightly.

“Thank you, Master, for giving me and my grandson a chance to meet.”

Jiang Zhiyue nodded slightly, signaling him to speak quickly.

Without wasting words, after expressing his gratitude, the old man turned to face Mingge and immediately changed his expression.

He grabbed Mingge by the ear. “You’re getting more muddled with age. You don’t know how anxious I’ve been watching from below. Our family line barely continues through you, and now it’s about to end with you—I was so worried I nearly crawled up myself.”

Mingge was confused but dared not disobey his grandfather.

“Grandpa, what is going on? You come to my dreams every night, scolding me, but I don’t understand why. This young lady said Gangzi is in danger—what does that mean?”

The old man stomped his foot and tears streamed down his face.

“Hurry and stop Gangzi. He can’t go out to work with his classmates. While I was in the underworld, I overheard the guardians of the netherworld talking about coming to seize Gangzi’s soul. Do you know? I was so frightened I nearly lost my soul.

The guardians said that the Book of Life and Death records that Gangzi will die in the summer of his twenty-first year while working with classmates.

That’s why I entered your dreams, urging you to stop Gangzi. But you didn’t understand me—ah!”

Hearing this, Mingge’s heart tightened.

His grandfather was already a ghost, so what he said must be true.

Terrified, Mingge collapsed to the ground, trembling as he pulled out his phone. “We must act fast, fast! Son, please don’t get on that vehicle!”

He recalled his son had once told him they were heading to a border city, with the departure time set for noon today.

While Mingge was making the call, Jiang Zhiyue explained everything that had happened to him to the old man.

Upon learning that his impulsiveness had not only failed to save his great-grandson but nearly endangered his grandson as well, the old man was filled with regret.

Now that the goal had been achieved, it was time for him to return to the underworld.

Mingge bowed reverently to the old man and repeatedly promised he would save his son. Only then did the old man reluctantly depart.

Just as the old man disappeared, Mingge’s son’s phone was finally answered.

Fortunately, it was just in time; the son was about to board the vehicle. Mingge even lied, saying he had injured his leg badly while working, to persuade him to stay.

The two friends chimed in, saying the injury was serious and urging him to come back quickly.

In the end, though his son treasured this rare internship opportunity, he was more concerned about his father's safety and decided to return immediately.

When Mingge heard that his son hadn’t boarded and was coming to care for him, he was overwhelmed with tears of joy.

His son was his life itself!

He dared not imagine what his life would be like if his son never returned from that trip.

Wiping his tears away, he straightened his posture and solemnly bowed to Jiang Zhiyue. Then he dug through all his pockets and after that, borrowed money from his two friends.

Holding a handful of crumpled bills, he said, “Little miss—no, Master—this is all the money we brought today. Please take it first. When I return to the site and borrow money from the foreman, I’ll transfer the rest to you. Is that alright?”

Mingge didn’t have much money, but he knew this favor had saved his son’s life, so this sum was insufficient.

Jiang Zhiyue waved her hand. “Since it’s done, put out the fire and leave. I said one bowl of noodles—that’s all.

Since fate brought us together, I won’t take payment. One bowl of noodles is enough. If you ever encounter strange matters again, you can come find me. Next time I’ll give you a returning customer discount.”

She gently rubbed her round belly, savoring the aroma of beef noodles.

Mingge knelt down with a thud, thanking her profusely. “Master, don’t worry. I’ll spread the word far and wide. If any of my relatives or friends face such matters, I’ll send them to you.”

“Good. If there’s nothing else, tidy up and get on with your day. This park is crowded; it wouldn’t be good if others saw this.”

After saying this, Jiang Zhiyue hurried them away with repeated hand gestures. If anyone witnessed this, they would surely accuse them of arson or practicing superstition in this day and age.

Besides, she still had things to do this afternoon.

When Jiang Chen finally arrived, supporting Jiang Qingyan as they walked slowly, he overheard fragments of conversation from a distance:

“It’s done. Put out the fire and let’s go.”

“I won’t take payment. One bowl of noodles is enough.”

“Help me spread the word to more customers.”

“I’ll bring you more business and send friends your way if they need help.”

“Let’s go quickly. If others see us, it won’t be good.”

Hearing these words, Jiang Chen’s mind went blank, his vision darkening instantly.
