Mr. and Mrs. Shen were not fools; they immediately saw that Shi Yan disliked both of them, and even more so, their annoying son. Then they thought to themselves, if they had such a sweet and gentle little girl, surely there would be at least one bothersome boy hovering around her. Their own expressions would probably be even more displeased than Jiang Shiyan’s.

“Xiao Ruoxue, long time no see,” Mrs. Shen waved at Jiang Ruoxue.

“Hello, Auntie, Uncle,” Jiang Ruoxue greeted Mr. and Mrs. Shen with confidence, smiling warmly at Mrs. Shen.

Shen Tingyu could be a bit annoying at times, but Aunt Qin and Uncle Shen were very kind, and she liked them.

“Ah, Ruoxue, how nice to see you,” Mr. Shen’s tone softened involuntarily when speaking to the little girl. At the same time, he sighed inwardly once again. How could such a lovely little girl not be his daughter!

Seeing their own troublesome son standing beside Jiang Ruoxue, Mr. Shen felt even more irritated. This foolish boy liked their daughter, but when he saw her, he didn’t even greet her with an “uncle” or show any tact. No wonder Jiang Shiyan disliked him; if he were in Shiyan’s shoes, he wouldn’t like him either.

Noticing Jiang Ruoxue greeting his parents, Shen Tingyu suddenly realized he hadn’t greeted Shiyan yet.

“Uncle Jiang, long time no see.” Shen Tingyu, always familiar and forward, immediately grabbed Shiyan’s leg and looked up at him with a pleading smile.

“Uncle Jiang, can I be in the same class as Ruoxue? We’ve been classmates for two years already in kindergarten.”

“Let go!” Shiyan struggled to keep a neutral expression.

He couldn’t stand the idea of them being in the same class. Dream on! He was about to call the principal immediately to make sure they weren’t placed together.

“Uncle, please!” Shen Tingyu skillfully turned on the charm, which was his usual trick at home.

Seeing this, Shiyan found it hard to be too harsh. After all, the original drama hadn’t unfolded yet, and Shen Tingyu was still just a child.

But wanting to be in the same class as their Ruoxue? Dream on! He would definitely call the principal later and ensure they were separated.

“Let go and stand properly.”

“Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen, don’t you want to control your son?” Shiyan winked at them.

Before Mr. Shen could pretend to pull Shen Tingyu away, Jiang Ruoxue spoke first.

“Shen Tingyu, if you stop pulling girls’ braids and behave well, I can be in the same class as you.”

“Really!” Shen Tingyu immediately let go of Shiyan and stood beside Jiang Ruoxue.

“I haven’t pulled girls’ braids for a long time. My mom and Teacher Xiaohua said it’s wrong to do that. I promise to be a good kid. Ruoxue, will you be my classmate? You’re the person I’m most familiar with in the whole school.”

“Dad.” Jiang Ruoxue looked up at Shiyan, knowing she needed his approval.

“As long as Ruoxue agrees, that’s fine.” Since his daughter had spoken, he couldn’t refuse.

“I’m calling the principal now,” Mr. Shen immediately took out his phone and dialed.

Today was just an early arrival for the students to get familiar with the school environment. The official class assignments wouldn’t be made until after the test today, with results released on August 31. There was still room to maneuver.

“Shen Tingyu, aren’t you carrying your own backpack?” Jiang Ruoxue’s eyes fell on the bag in Mr. Shen’s hand.

“I just saw you earlier and was in a hurry to find you, so I asked my dad to carry it for a short distance. Teacher Xiaohua said we should do our own things, so I will definitely carry my backpack myself.”

Shen Tingyu took his bag from his father and slung it over his shoulder.

Mr. and Mrs. Shen exchanged a knowing glance.

This boy had refused to carry his backpack earlier, yelling and fussing, but now, with just a few words from the little girl, he obediently carried it himself.

Such blatant double standards!

“Let’s go.” Jiang Ruoxue reached out her hand, and Shen Tingyu immediately placed his hand in hers.

The two little ones walked hand in hand to explore the school.

Shiyan found the sight of their joined hands unbearably annoying.

“Mr. Jiang, sorry, sorry,” Mr. Shen teased as he saw Shiyan’s face darken completely.

“Hmph!” Shiyan turned his head, no longer caring about appearances.

“Honey, do you think we should have a second child, a soft little girl just like Ruoxue?”

God only knew how much she longed to take Jiang Ruoxue home every time she saw her.

How could such an adorable little girl exist? She was exactly the dream daughter she had always wanted.

“I’ve been thinking the same,” Mr. Shen shared his wife’s feelings. He envied Shiyan for having a daughter.

Fortunately, Jiang Ruoxue and Shen Tingyu weren’t in the same classroom for the entrance test; otherwise, Shiyan’s face would have stayed dark for who knows how long.

“Sweetheart, you’re a girl. Remember not to hold hands with boys casually, okay?” On the way home, Shiyan kept muttering, warning Jiang Ruoxue to keep her distance from boys with ill intentions.

“Okay, Dad. You don’t have to worry about me. I know kung fu—I can chase those bad kids away.”

“When Shen Tingyu and I were in middle class, he was bullied by the older kids, and I was the one who chased those bullies away,” Jiang Ruoxue said, clenching her fists and making a few gestures.

Jiang Ruoxue had entered kindergarten at age four, skipping the lower class and going straight to middle class.

“That’s when I punched that bully. Shen Tingyu was so scared he cried. I’m not afraid of those older kids at all. Dad, am I awesome?”

Shiyan seemed to understand why, from a certain day onward, Shen Tingyu acted like a dog drooling over chocolate whenever he saw Jiang Ruoxue.

“Wow, so our Ruoxue has chased away bullies! That’s amazing. It’s great to help others, but you must make sure not to get hurt... If you ever face this again, tell me and your teachers, so we can handle it, alright?”

Shiyan first affirmed Jiang Ruoxue’s bravery, then taught her how to handle such situations in the future, repeatedly urging her to protect herself.

“I know. If I can’t win, I’ll run away.”

“Our Ruoxue did a good deed. Daddy wants to reward you. Tell me, what do you wish for?”

“I want to eat hot pot. Is that okay, Daddy?”

“Of course!”

“Let’s go eat hot pot.” Shiyan had the driver turn the car around toward the hot pot restaurant.
