“Psychological suggestion... You truly are terrifying, Lord Envoy.”

There was a touch more fear in Bai Ya’s voice, but from the sound of it, Liu Mengchao also caught something else.

Excitement.

After all, a person’s position determines the way he thinks and acts. So the saying goes: a man’s seat decides his head.

“Anything else? If not, I’d like to go back and see Anna,” Liu Mengchao said, looking at the Tree of Cause and Effect before him.

By now there were already two such trees, and correspondingly, more leaves had appeared on them to represent side stories. There were four leaves in all: two from School Days, and two from Highschool of the Dead.

“So the leaves for side stories really do increase as time goes on,” Liu Mengchao said slowly, voicing his guess.

“As you can see, Lord Envoy. I apologize for the intrusion, but you still cannot leave the Main God Space.”

“Why?”

“Please turn around.”

Bai Ya’s voice sounded beside Liu Mengchao’s ear. Following her instruction, he turned his head, and the sight that suddenly appeared before him startled him.

“What is this?”

Liu Mengchao stared at the scene behind him and murmured to himself.

A house had risen from the ground, abruptly appearing beside the rainbow pool. It was not large, but it was finely appointed, its wooden walls set against the gently flowing rainbow pool before the door, the whole place seeming like a scene from a fairy tale.

“This is the library.”

Bai Ya’s voice, along with Liu Mengchao’s steps, brought him to the front of the house.

“A library?” Liu Mengchao frowned and pushed the door open.

The wooden door creaked.

Bookshelves stood one after another, filling the room.

Liu Mengchao picked up a book at random and opened it.

Basic Firearms Knowledge.

After reading a few pages, he set it down. He did not like guns. Looking away, he turned to the other side.

The books on these shelves were all bound in stitched thread. Neatly arranged in rows upon rows, they looked exactly like the study of some old, bookish household.

Staring at the shelves, Liu Mengchao suddenly laughed. He had seen such shelves before.

At Qi Xiaoxiao’s home.

Sure enough, the books placed there, one after another, were all ones Liu Mengchao had seen before. Though he could not remember their exact contents, he still remembered the title of one of them.

The Fist Classic.

Back then, he had torn that book page by page, and together with Qi Xiaoxiao, folded the pages into paper airplanes. They had played for an entire afternoon. Of course, the final result was that the two of them were beaten black and blue together.

“Bai Ya, tell me the principle behind the formation of this place.”

“Have you not thought of it yet?”

“Not thought of it...?” Liu Mengchao frowned and paced slowly around the library. Suddenly, he stopped.

One bookshelf was filled entirely with books bound in white covers.

That alone was not the point. It was the titles that struck Liu Mengchao as astonishing.

They were titled Assassin’s Stealth, The Method of Leap Assassination, How to Counterkill Instantly, Death Through Faith Alone Without Obstruction, and Walking as Though on Level Ground.

And that was not all. On the very top was another book. Its title was all too familiar to Liu Mengchao, because in the last world he had just strengthened that very ability.

Assassin’s Creed Action Pack.

“What’s stored in here are all enhancement contents!” Liu Mengchao frowned, as if Bai Ya were standing right before him.

“Yes, as you can see, Lord Envoy. What is placed here are the enhancements used by reincarnators.”

“Then where do these enhancement books come from? I do not believe things can appear out of thin air. Besides, in the last world, the Main God Space didn’t have anything like this.”

“Yes. The things here are all imagined. No,” Bai Ya quickly overturned her own words, “rather than imagined, it would be better to say that they truly exist. As long as reincarnators believe in them, they will appear before the reincarnators.”

“Believe? Making a person truly believe in something unreal—Bai Ya, do you know how difficult that is?” Liu Mengchao idly flipped through a book on another shelf, its title The Bodyguard Regulations and Methods. “The hardest thing for a person to do is not deceiving others’ trust, but deceiving himself.”

“Making oneself believe these books will appear?” Liu Mengchao returned the book to the shelf, his index finger gliding lightly along the spine, like a skilled musician drawing out a graceful melody.

“The more reincarnators there are, the more things they believe in. By then, this library will grow larger and larger, and the kinds of enhancements available for selection will increase as well.”

“Like people such as Qi Xiaoxiao?” Liu Mengchao turned around and carefully studied the bookshelf that, in his memory, had stood in Qi Xiaoxiao’s home. There really were many books there that he had never seen before.

Discharge Transformation.

“This is clearly the kind of thing that only appears in novels, and yet I can actually see it here.” Liu Mengchao smiled and shook his head, his gaze drifting casually across the library, then stopping.

The Interpretation of Emotions, FBI Face Reading, Psychological Suggestion Techniques, Micro-Expression Analysis, Introduction to Behavioral Psychology, The Interpretation of Dreams...

Liu Mengchao looked one by one at the books on the shelves. Every famous work of psychology was there.

“This... it seems the reincarnators really do trust me quite a lot.”

“Aren’t you worried? If the reincarnators also strengthen these kinds of knowledge?”

“I’m not worried, because all they will discover is that the speed at which a person’s expressions change far exceeds their imagination. After all...” Liu Mengchao’s gaze went straight to the title of the book at the very top.

Human Emotion.

Human Emotion was a series, a long row of books stretching from one end to the other. Their covers were a dull gray-black, making them look like government research reports.

“They do not know the secret within, because they have not experienced what I once experienced. Those trainings and studies.”

Liu Mengchao took one last look at the author’s name on the book, let out a quiet laugh, and shook his head as he walked out of the library.

Only after seeing the sky of the Main God World again did Liu Mengchao slowly exhale. His eyes had become involuntarily damp.

That name had been buried deep in his heart for a very, very long time.

Liu Yuan.

“Father, it seems you have not been doing very well in heaven.”

Liu Mengchao smiled as he spoke. “Bai Ya, open another small door in every reincarnator’s room, leading to this library. If possible, hide the top row of books.”

Bai Ya said nothing, only remained silent.

“Is it difficult?” Liu Mengchao shook his head. “Then forget it. This book only contains the research results; the most crucial things were not written inside it. After all, the only one in this world who truly understands is me.”

“They can be hidden...” Bai Ya’s voice sounded somewhat weary, as though it had taken great effort. “Also, as the Main God’s Envoy, you may use the simplified bookmark index.”

“The bookmark index—that was the thing I used to search for enhancements in the last world, right?”

“Yes. It used to be available to every reincarnator, but it was later canceled in order to monitor the reincarnators more effectively.”

“Not for monitoring—for fear of rebellion. After all, there are simply too many clever people in this world, especially those detestable sages.”

A light suddenly flashed in Liu Mengchao’s eyes, a dazzling light, a terrifying light.

When he closed his eyes, Liu Mengchao suddenly changed from a drawn sword into an innocent, harmless youth.

“Bai Ya, I’m tired. Right now, I want to go home.”

“As you wish, Lord Envoy.”

White light flashed and slowly wrapped itself around Liu Mengchao.

The weather in Nanjing is always so moody. I don’t even want to say anything about it anymore (#‵′)凸

Then, then... the next chapter will be out around eleven tonight. Actually, to be honest... the atmosphere in Another is really terrifying... If I’d known earlier, I would have written a* because there are too few pretty girls in it ╭(╯^╰)╮
