As Lin Tian lay on the brink of death, he suddenly felt a warm light shining upon him, as if he were dreaming. Confused, he glanced around the hazy surroundings and heard a deep voice from an unseen place say, “Child, I sense the bloodline of the Xiao family within you. Are you a descendant of the Xiao clan?”
Lin Tian furrowed his brow and thought for a moment. “Sort of, but my surname is Lin.”
“Oh?” The mysterious voice sounded doubtful. “Did you take your mother’s name?”
“No, the director gave me my name,” Lin Tian replied.
Years ago, he had been fortunate to be rescued by the director from the snowy wilderness; otherwise, he might have frozen to death. The voice, upon hearing this, did not press further but said, “Though unfortunate, since you have activated the treasure ring, it proves our fates are linked. I shall grant you a blessing of fortune!”
As the words fell, Lin Tian felt a scorching heat surge through his body, followed by a sudden infusion of power and an unbearable itch in his eyes.
“Ah—!” he cried out, startling the approaching fat man and his companions, who took several steps back in fright.
“Boss, do you think this guy’s possessed by some evil spirit?” a subordinate whispered.
The fat man shot him a glare, about to scold him, but seeing the others’ fearful expressions, he swallowed his words. Even he felt a chill down his spine.
In their line of work, they believed in ghosts and spirits; before any operation, they would pay respects to Buddha or Guan Yu for protection.
They had been starving for days and, upon receiving this lucrative job, rushed over without the usual prayers. Many of the men were already reconsidering.
Seeing Lin Tian stir, the fat man knew the situation was deteriorating and ordered his men gruffly to move forward.
“What’s wrong? Can’t I give orders? Or have you all lost interest in that eighty thousand?” His commanding tone and the promise of high pay forced the men to muster courage and advance.
At that moment, Lin Tian woke up, his once gentle eyes now gleaming with a newfound spirit. He straightened his back and exhaled heavily.
In his mind echoed the words of his ancestor: “Lin Tian, you have awakened the rare Heavenly Eye, a gift unseen for a millennium. From now on, you shall overlook the world and transcend all beings. You are destined to achieve a magnificent and earth-shaking legacy!”

“Is it really that powerful?” Lin Tian murmured, then fixed his gaze on the approaching men. “Let’s test it on them first!”
In a flash, his fists and legs moved with lightning speed, delivering a series of blows with a resounding “bang bang bang.”
Those closest to him had no time to feel the pain; before they could react, they were sent flying backward, experiencing the sensation of flight.
This display terrified the others who were about to step forward, causing them to retreat once more.
“Boss, maybe we should just forget about that eighty thousand. This guy seems like a different person. He’s definitely possessed by some evil spirit,” one muttered.
“Yeah, we’re ruthless but not stupid. No need to get beaten for nothing.”
“…”
Hearing his men urging him to flee, the fat man’s face flushed with anger. Pushing a subordinate aside, he bellowed, “You bunch of cowards! Watch clearly how I’m going to subdue this guy!”
With that, he charged forward like a raging bull.
To Lin Tian, the attack seemed slow motion. He dodged effortlessly and sneered lightly, “Tsk tsk, your strength is nothing special. And you still dare to recklessly make a move against me!”
As he finished speaking, his eyes closed briefly, then snapped open with a sudden intensity.
A blinding light shot out, dazzling everyone present.
The next moment, the street echoed with agonized screams.
The men, blinded by the radiant light, clutched their bloodied eyes and knelt in unison.
None had expected such a spectacle, especially the fat man, who never imagined this surreal scene would unfold before him.
And, damn it, it truly blinded their eyes!
Before he could dwell on it, Lin Tian’s cold voice cut through the chaos: “You’ve come to such a fate. Perhaps it’s time to consider who truly brought this upon yourselves.”
After all, it wasn’t Lin Tian who sought to blind them.
The men soon understood—it was all because they took this job!
Naturally, the fat man was also responsible, having stubbornly ignored their repeated warnings.

“It’s all your fault!”
Enraged, several subordinates rushed at the bewildered fat man, who was shouting in panic, turning the scene into a dog-eat-dog brawl.
Lin Tian paid no attention to the fracas. Taking advantage, he slipped a phone from the fat man’s jacket pocket and, using the voice assistant, opened the contacts.
Seeing a particular number, anger flared in his eyes.
“I never imagined it would be you—my own uncle!”
Suppressing his resentment, Lin Tian quietly dialed the police and left the scene.
By the time he returned to the orphanage, it was already past midnight.
As he fumbled to open his room door, he saw someone curled up under the covers on his bed.
Thanks to his sharp vision, he froze and blurted out, “Bai Yun, why are you sleeping in my bed?”
Startled by the sound, Bai Yun peeked out from the blanket, shivering, her teeth chattering. “I… I was waiting for you to come back. Brother Lin, are you hungry? I still have a big steamed bun the director gave me this afternoon.”
She reached inside her shirt and pulled out a large, round bun. “Brother Lin, eat this while it’s warm.”
Lin Tian didn’t take it but said, “I ate at the Xiao’s. I’m not hungry now. You can eat it yourself.”
“Liar!”
Bai Yun’s delicate face tightened as tears welled up, her voice choking. “The director told me you never had enough to eat at the Xiao’s. You must be starving.”
That’s why, when the director handed out food that afternoon, she had swapped a large meat-filled bun for two meat-stuffed steamed buns.
“Bai Yun, you…” Lin Tian saw the tears in her eyes, sensing she was about to cry. He sighed but felt a warmth in his heart and spoke softly, “Good sister, how could I lie to you? Here, let’s split it.”
She nodded shyly with a rosy blush, and he broke the bun in half, eating one side.
Surprisingly, it tasted a little different from the usual buns.
That night, they didn’t sleep. Bai Yun clung to Lin Tian, asking question after question about the Xiao family, and he gladly shared what he knew.
