Volume One: Mutation Chapter One: Prologue
In the boundless reaches of ancient space, countless stars shimmered faintly. Here, all traces of life had vanished, leaving only a profound silence and a single, colossal meteorite adrift. The meteorite was entirely black, darker than the deepest ink, and from afar, it resembled a massive black hole capable of swallowing light itself, evoking awe and dread.
On the far side of the meteorite, a point of light flickered, its origins and duration unknown. What began as the size of a sesame seed gradually grew to the size of a fist. In the blink of an eye, the light, like a shooting star, seemed to pierce through space, instantly appearing before the inky meteorite and, with incredible speed, crashed into it.
Though the meteor's glow was but a fraction of the black meteorite's vastness, at the moment of impact, it shattered the enormous and seemingly unbreakable rock into dust, as easily as a pebble might shatter a towering mountain—a sight that defied all comprehension.
The blazing streak of the meteor cut through the meteorite, erupting into countless sparkling embers. Yet its speed did not falter in the slightest. As if passing through a thin sheet of paper, it continued nonchalantly into the endless expanse, utterly indifferent to the myriad fragments scattering behind it.
