Weapon System 40. Entering Meditation Is Actually Very Dangerous (2)
“Damn! To think I actually let Zhang Mingjing’s consciousness interfere with me. Seems this block trying to seize the throne is no pushover!” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model muttered.
After a long while, it finally detected one of the blocks growing larger, and identified the human trait inside as the desire for fame and fortune.
For Zhang Mingjing, the pursuit of fame and fortune was a rare trait indeed; in over a decade, such thoughts surfaced at most once or twice a year.
“I’ve known this kid for so long, and he hardly ever talks about reaching the pinnacle of success. Yet today, he’s muttered it a hundred times to himself. It must be this little block’s doing. Who’d have thought! This little block actually wants to become the dominant piece in the worldview model.” As the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model grumbled, the fame-and-fortune block suddenly slipped away from its tracking.
“What? It managed to escape right under my nose? That’s embarrassing!” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model grumbled, quickly resuming its search among the swarm of “human trait blocks.”
If, during this reconstruction of Zhang Mingjing’s worldview, the fame-and-fortune block grew into a dominant piece, then other blocks carrying negative traits would surely gain energy as well, becoming dominant in turn.
The block containing greed, for example, would be a typical beneficiary.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model had scanned it just now; fortunately, it had not changed.
Alas! No matter what, if the fame-and-fortune block succeeded, Zhang Mingjing’s long-standing indifference to worldly gains would soon be replaced by insatiable greed, setting him on a path of gradual decline. This was what Daoist cultivation called falling into demonic obsession.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model was genuinely worried, as it too might be tainted by the corrupted worldview model, dragged down with him. In the worst case, it could even devolve into a mere three-dimensional thinking model. It had to save Zhang Mingjing—saving him was saving itself!
Every restructuring of the worldview was a grueling process, requiring Zhang Mingjing’s own will, and this time he seemed quite willing.
“If I fail to save this kid and he turns rotten, so be it. But if I get dragged down too, even the mission of decoding the Sun’s seal could be fatally compromised!” The more the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model thought about it, the more serious the consequences seemed. It searched desperately for the fame-and-fortune block, growing increasingly anxious, and finally barged forward, scattering the blocks involved in the worldview reconstruction. Many blocks tumbled to the ground, but soon trickled back and resumed their places.
“Come on!” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model grumbled, charging again and scattering the blocks once more. Yet, momentarily, the blocks congregated again.
Each time the blocks regrouped, it charged through them, all the while searching for the fame-and-fortune block.
This worldview model existed within Zhang Mingjing’s consciousness—it was part of him—his consciousness surely enveloped it. And consciousness was no pushover; with such rough treatment, it wouldn’t stand idly by.
At last, after the thirteenth collision, a bolt of lightning-like energy struck the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model. Fortunately, being born of the energy realm, it erected a shield just in time to block the attack.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model was not without caution, well aware of the risks of further angering Zhang Mingjing’s consciousness. Besides, it had once again pinpointed the fame-and-fortune block.
“This time, you’re not getting away!” it thought, quietly approaching the block.
It had to capture this block and extract from it the source code that was confusing Zhang Mingjing’s state.
...
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model had already seized the fame-and-fortune block and begun cracking its information.
The block had grown more than twice its former size, its strength greatly increased, and was now filled with negative spin energy, which the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model despised. But none of this could frighten or stop it; in less than two seconds, it had cracked half of the block’s code.
The block’s code was precisely the source code it sought.
Another two seconds, and it would have the entire code.
But just as those two seconds began, a small block rammed into it, then another, then three more in succession. All the attacking blocks carried negative spin energy, while the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model itself was suffused with positive spin energy. The two neutralized each other: every impact cost it a bit of energy, forcing it to halt its decoding and grow apprehensive.
“Damn!” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model groaned helplessly. Hundreds of blocks were now swarming toward it. If every one of them struck, even though each collision would only neutralize a fraction of its energy, the cumulative drain would be enormous. If not completely obliterated, it would be left half-dead! And it couldn’t activate its energy shield, for its shield was also positive spin energy and would be neutralized as well.
“If I hadn’t been demoted to three-dimensional space, with only a sliver of energy left, I wouldn’t even bother with you lot!” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model complained with a bitter face, dodging and fleeing desperately.
Yet it maintained its grip on the fame-and-fortune block, whose negative spin energy continued to neutralize its own positive spin. The block dwindled, but since the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model’s total energy outmatched it by hundreds of times, the effect was negligible.
“Running isn’t a long-term solution!” it muttered. “Even if I get the source code and write a cracking program, I’d never get the chance to implant it into the state and pull Zhang Mingjing back from the brink!”
While it was at a loss, suddenly, other blocks burst forth from the worldview model. These were larger than the pursuing negative spin blocks, and among them was one of the largest, a dominant block.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model instantly identified them, elated. “So you’re all positive spin energy—my lower-dimensional siblings!”
Because Zhang Mingjing was still a genuinely good person, his worldview model was yet to be overrun by “evil forces.” Thus, the positive spin blocks still outnumbered the negative ones by more than ten to one. As soon as these positive spin blocks appeared, the tide turned—the enemy instantly fled back into the worldview model.
The battle ended in victory for the forces of positivity.
“Ha ha ha... Since ancient times, evil never prevails over good! Now that your kin have failed their counterattack, you finally accept your fate?” the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model laughed at the small block, then read all its codes, finally obtaining the source code for the state, and tossed it back into the worldview model.
...
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model left the worldview model, intending to return to the deep layer of Zhang Mingjing’s conscious boundary—the very state it aimed to hack—only to be denied access again.
“So, you figured out I have the source code and you’re afraid I’ll hack you, huh?”
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model began deciphering the firewall of the state using the newly acquired information. In less than two seconds, it succeeded.
It then implanted its decoding program into the state’s code. Instantly, the entire state began to tremble; fissures appeared in the once bright, white expanse, and the state showed clear signs of impending collapse.
At that moment, Zhang Mingjing suddenly went berserk, roaring, “Who—who is destroying my state?”
He bellowed, then suddenly glared at the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model, his ferocious expression startling the latter.
“Didn’t expect you to look so ugly when you’re angry!”
“It’s you! Why?!”
“Why what?”
“Why are you destroying my precious state?”
“Damn, you call it precious? How do you know it’s me?”
“The state told me! Still trying to deny it?”
“Sigh! It was to save you. You’ve become obsessed with this state, fallen into a demonic trance. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had to be so ruthless with your precious state!”
“Ahhh!” Zhang Mingjing lunged at the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model in fury.
“Sigh! Why am I working so hard, for whom am I toiling and sweetening the deal? And now you repay kindness with malice—just like the proverbial dog biting Lü Dongbin, unable to recognize a good man’s heart!” The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model dodged while complaining.
At this point, Zhang Mingjing was surrounded by a formidable negative spin energy; neutralizing it would immediately restore his rational mind.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model did not particularly care for its own safety, but it predicted that someone else would surely come to neutralize this negative spin energy, though that role certainly wasn’t its own. So, as it dodged, it waited.
“Come on, kid, hurry up! ... Too slow! ... And you think you can avenge your precious state at this rate?” It taunted him as it evaded.
Zhang Mingjing was beside himself with rage, gnashing his teeth—his movements, face, and voice were all the picture of someone ready to tear the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model to shreds.
“You’re terrifying me, kid! Just how much psychological trauma are you leaving me with today? Who can help me calculate it? Hahaha...”
As the Five-Dimensional Thinking Model continued to jest, a giant block suddenly descended from above.
“Oh! Zhang Mingjing, your healer has arrived!”
This giant block was one of the dominant blocks in his worldview model, carrying the trait of kindness, and was suffused with positive spin energy.
Zhang Mingjing, seeing the block barring his path, pounced in anger, only to deflate as soon as he grabbed it.
The giant block neutralized the negative spin energy in Zhang Mingjing and quickly departed, leaving Zhang Mingjing sitting dazed on the ground.
The Five-Dimensional Thinking Model drifted over slowly and asked, “How are you feeling?”
“Huh? It seems a lot just happened, but I can’t remember a thing.”
“Hmm... so that’s how it is.”
“What do you mean, ‘that’s how it is’? Tell me what happened!”
“All your recent actions were stored in the negative spin energy. When it was neutralized, the information didn’t have time to transfer to your brain, so naturally, your memory is blank.”
“What’s negative spin energy?”
“All right! Let your grandpa Thinking Model explain it to you in detail.”
