Chapter 37: The Truth Emerges
Duan Fei gripped the anonymous letter, her eyes as cold as an ice cavern.
Hah, playing dirty?
I’ll play along to the very end!
She calmly folded the letter, tucked it into her pocket, and continued to chat and laugh with her employees as if nothing had happened. Yet, behind the scenes, she had already begun to lay her trap, swearing to drag the mastermind out into the light.
The atmosphere in the office turned tense, like a drawn bowstring.
Xiao Wang leaned in to whisper to A-Qiang: "Brother Qiang, what do you think is up with the boss? It feels like... the calm before a massive storm!" A-Qiang patted his shoulder, pretending to be relaxed: "Stop guessing, just get back to work!" But he knew in his heart that this situation was far from simple.
Duan Fei’s first suspect was President Li.
She stormed directly into Li’s office and slammed the anonymous letter onto his desk. "President Li, did you write this?" Li leaned back with his legs crossed, feigning surprise. "President Duan, what is the meaning of this? I don't understand." He picked up the letter, pretended to inspect it, and then let out a scoff. "President Duan, don’t go making baseless accusations. Why would I do such a thing?"
"Stop playing dumb!" Burning with rage, Duan Fei grabbed him by the collar. "Do you think I don't know your pathetic little schemes? You just want to ruin my company, right? Let me tell you, not a chance!"
Li was momentarily shaken by her intensity, but he quickly regained his arrogant air. "Duan Fei, don’t get too cocky! The business world is a battlefield—the winner takes all, and you should just accept your defeat!" He shoved her away, straightened his collar, and sneered, "As for this letter, I suggest you stop wasting your time; you won't find anything."
Duan Fei sneered back, pulled a USB drive from her bag, and tossed it onto the desk. "Really? President Li, I suggest you take a look at this first..." The drive played a recording—the very conversation between Li and the assassin known as Dark Night!
Li’s face turned deathly pale, as if he were being strangled; he couldn't utter a word. The recording clearly detailed his plot to hire a hitman to take out Duan Fei, even mentioning the price they had agreed upon.
"President Li, do you have anything left to say?" Duan Fei stood with her arms crossed, her gaze sharp as a blade, seemingly piercing straight through to his soul.
Li collapsed into his chair, trembling all over. He knew he was finished. Once this recording went public, his reputation would be ruined, and his company would inevitably collapse.
"You... you..." Li pointed at her, his voice stuttering and weak.
Duan Fei smirked, turned, and left, leaving behind only one icy sentence: "Goodbye, and don't bother seeing me out!"
The news spread like wildfire through the business community. Li’s conspiracy was exposed, his reputation was shattered, and he became a pariah. Duan Fei, meanwhile, was hailed as a powerful business icon, and her company’s reputation soared, leading to a flood of new orders.

Duan Fei stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the bustling city, a sense of unprecedented satisfaction rising within her.
She had won, and she had won brilliantly!
However, the matter was far from over. Upon learning that he had been exposed, Dark Night was consumed by rage and shame, deciding to go all-in and take care of Duan Fei himself.
"Duan Fei, you’ve ruined everything for me. I’ll make you pay!" Dark Night hissed through gritted teeth.
He infiltrated her residence, waiting for his chance. Just as he was about to strike, a figure suddenly appeared, shielding Duan Fei.
"Bei Mo!" Duan Fei cried out in surprise.
Bei Mo didn't speak; he only stared coldly at Dark Night. "Your opponent is me."
The two engaged in a fierce struggle. Bei Mo was agile, his strikes lethal, but Dark Night was no slouch. They traded blow for blow, locked in a stalemate. Finally, relying on his superior strength and iron will, Bei Mo subdued him. The bodyguards nearby immediately rushed forward to surround Dark Night.
"Fei, are you alright?" Bei Mo asked with concern.
Duan Fei shook her head, her eyes landing on the wound on Bei Mo’s arm, her heart filled with a complex mix of emotions...
"Bei Mo, your arm..." Her gaze fixed on the ghastly wound, and she gasped in pain. "Are you... hurting?" The tone was so tender that even she felt a bit uncharacteristic; in the past, she would never have spoken like this.
Bei Mo saw the worry in her eyes, and his heart warmed. He grabbed her hand and said with deep affection, "Fei, as long as you're safe, I fear nothing." He paused, looking at her with burning intensity. "Li-Li, let's start over."
The air was thick with a romantic atmosphere. The bodyguards nearby tactfully turned away, pretending to cough, secretly thinking: *They’re finally together!*
A-Qiang was even more excited, rubbing his hands together, wishing he could set off firecrackers to celebrate.

Duan Fei was stunned for a moment, then lowered her head, a shy blush creeping across her face. She didn't refuse; she simply nodded gently.
"Mm."
That single syllable meant more than a thousand words.
After the dust settled on the President Li incident, the reputation of Duan Fei's company exploded. Orders flew in like snowflakes; she was busier than ever. Xiao Wang was as energized as if he’d been injected with adrenaline, showing off to everyone he met: "See that? Our boss is incredible! Her crisis management is textbook-perfect!" The company’s morale was at an all-time high, thriving in every way.
Duan Fei and Bei Mo officially reunited, beginning a sweet, romantic chapter.
Bei Mo turned into a devoted partner, coming up with new ways to surprise her every day, as if he wanted to offer her the entire world. Duan Fei would tease him for being "mushy," but her heart felt as sweet as honey.
Just as everything was moving in a wonderful direction, a sudden, unexpected twist shattered the peace.
One day, when Duan Fei returned home, she found a very cute little boy sitting in the living room, using her limited-edition lipstick to scribble graffiti on her Hermes bag.
"What are you doing?!" Duan Fei screamed.
The little boy looked up, blinking his large, watery eyes, and answered in a milky voice: "I'm drawing!"
Duan Fei: ...
Just then, Bei Mo walked in from outside, and seeing this scene, he was equally bewildered.
The little boy saw Bei Mo, immediately jumped off the sofa, ran over, hugged his leg, and called out sweetly: "Daddy!"
Bei Mo: "???"
Duan Fei: "???"
