Chapter 115: The Royal Hotel of England City
Seeing their boss being grabbed by the collar and pulled up, the surrounding dragon bodyguards were stunned. Gritting their teeth, some tried to step forward, while others hesitated, reaching for their guns.
Witnessing this scene, the nearby gentlemen and noblewomen gasped in shock—Sir Louis Knight, do you even realize whom you’re holding onto?
Archie was equally terrified, waving his hands to stop the fight. “Are you kidding? That’s a humanoid dragon who understands terrifying magic! If this breaks out, every single person here will be doomed!”
Louis’s eyes blazed with fury.
This brat had sabotaged him several times before; there were still many unresolved issues between them. And now, he had the audacity to come looking for trouble this morning!
Thinking about the previous newspaper, Louis’s anger deepened—he was already famous in the wizarding world!
All the painstaking effort he had put into crafting his image, enduring so many humiliations, was ruined by a single article. Perhaps even Principal Oliver was now reconsidering whether appointing him as Grand Scholar was a mistake.
This thought made him somewhat reckless.
“Let’s talk this through calmly, Louis. Let’s have a meal first; it’s already past five,” Archie said, rubbing his hands and trying to placate him. “I’ve already reserved a table at the Royal Sorendo Hotel. They have your favorite dish—White Stone Lake magical lobster. And Miss Helen’s favorite magical kitty mushroom pie, which I specially arranged to be transported from the Saint Icon Tree today.”
“I don’t like lobster,” Louis’s eye twitched—this damned fellow was still thinking about endorsements!
Yet, he let Archie down.
“You’ll like it,” Archie made a counting gesture, hinting at the endorsement fee, then waved toward the car door, inviting him in. “Get in quickly, my good friend Louis. I have a little gift for you—that big guy is way more interesting than this old car—you must have seen it at the expo today, right? That’s part of our War God’s Hammer project! You’ll love it! When the Wizard’s Cup comes, you drive it—it’ll definitely be the star of the show!”
Louis’s eyes brightened involuntarily. Although the little goblins liked to deceive, they were very honest in business.
He couldn’t help but glance up at the “flat-topped bulldozer” in front of him—was there something even bigger than this beast?
Louis waved to Kate, Helen, and the others.
At that moment, Kate suddenly remembered that Louis had been introduced by KFC, while Archie was a cousin of Belief.
Helen also recognized the little goblin—he was one of Louis’s patients. Louis had cured his injured backside and an eye blind for ten years.
Indeed, that day, Louis had extracted seven or eight bullets from his body. The little man with the slicked-back hair had stared at himself in the mirror, holding the bullets and weeping for a long time. He said his other eye hadn’t shed a tear for over ten years.
So this little crybaby with slicked-back hair was usually so fierce. It seemed everyone feared him.
At this moment, numerous Stoggs took off their hats to salute Louis. Kate and Helen exchanged glances, both a little excited. Together with four wizards and the little Yordles, they curiously and eagerly passed through the crowd and approached the massive locomotive.
Several dragon bodyguards prostrated themselves, knelt on one knee, or bowed deeply, forming a human staircase for everyone to step on and climb aboard.
After a beating, then a meal invitation, then a gift?
The noble gentlemen and ladies gaped at this scene, suddenly realizing who Osiris’s colleague really was—no freeloading! He was a major supporter on par with Count Crowley, Osiris’s main pillar.
And that pillar was indeed sturdy. His background was unknown.
Perhaps at the princess’s welcome banquet, her father should attend personally.
Maybe, in the end, the banquet’s host wasn’t Crowley but the king himself—his daughter didn’t seem like a humble little priestess. Her influence behind the scenes appeared to grow stronger, though perhaps not yet rivaling that of his six-year-old youngest son.
How many years had the princess been away? No one knew if she was aware of her brother’s situation...
...
By the time they reached the vicinity of the Royal Sorendo Hotel, night had fallen.
It was quite close to the train station, and along the way, Archie ordered someone to bring Kate’s old car over for Louis to use when picking up the princess the next morning.
This hotel was somewhat old, once the manor of a certain count. Later, because the family had no heirs and intended to pass the estate to a distant relative, the royal family colluded with the court to revoke the lands and title.
Afterward, the conservative count who opposed building the train station had his estate developed into a new district of English City, where the train station was built on what had been his horse racing grounds.
As for the Royal Sorendo Hotel, it was the luxurious castle manor.
Comparable to Count Crowley’s castle, though shorter but broader.
Walking past, the entire street was the castle’s side, grand and magnificent.
Occasionally, film festivals and the like were held here. Celebrities and directors often gathered for dinners. Nobles and wealthy merchants from other cities or countries frequently stayed here.
Hence, many vehicles were parked at the grand entrance. Nearby, in the hotel’s garden square, there was also a parking lot.
When the vehicles stopped at the door, many reporters surrounded the area, with a red carpet laid out. Beautiful actresses and distinguished actors were walking up the red carpet steps.
Louis didn’t want to appear in the papers with the girls, so the convoy’s driver took a detour to the other side.
“I don’t like watching movies,” Archie puffed on a cigar and said to Louis, “because I myself am a legend.”
Louis rolled his eyes; Helen didn’t understand, but Kate and the little Yordles nodded repeatedly.
The famous director Triv once tried to make a movie about Mr. Archie but was thwarted when Archie’s men overturned the set—the things Archie did were unsuitable for films.
Maybe after his death, a movie would be made.
“I do like investing, though,” Archie exhaled smoke and nodded slightly to Sir Bach and others. “Wizards, it’s time to promote—these three gentlemen are true legends.”
Louis’s eyes flickered slightly as he exchanged glances with Archie. From Archie’s cheerful expression, he understood the little man’s intent.
A reformist.
Louis nodded, saying nothing. Archie sensed Louis’s meaning and was relieved, certain Louis would help this time.
Perhaps Louis also hoped to advance legislation in the Magic Council—Archie had suspected as much since Louis had joined the Magic Enthusiasts Association.
Previously, Kate had booked several rooms at this hotel. Archie upgraded them to the highest-tier suites and extended the reservation for a year to accommodate Louis and the princess in the future—the princess likely didn’t want to see her stepmother every day, but English City was a place she would frequent. This hotel was the perfect base.
Archie hadn’t mentioned this yet, but when Louis and the princess asked at the front desk later, they would appreciate Archie’s thoughtfulness.
After disembarking, as the group walked from the garden to the hotel lobby, Archie asked Louis whether he preferred lively or quiet surroundings. Louis glanced at Helen and heard her unspoken wish.
“Find a spot where we can see English City—preferably somewhere with a bit of bustle but not too close.”
Archie gave the order. Upon reaching the upper floor, someone came to guide them.
Louis and the others didn’t wait a minute longer. When they entered the lively lobby, they found the best seats and many nearby chairs empty. Some still had unfinished dishes being hurriedly cleared by servers.
The meal was nearly fully served.
A few dragons stood near the best seats. Mr. A-Long was among them, his arm in a cast and his neck wrapped in a brace. He was tilting his head back, directing subordinates to place large photos and trophies nearby—apparently, things Archie had prepared for Louis.
A-Long’s group had probably just arrived via phantasmal displacement.
Seeing Louis nod at him, A-Long tried to return the gesture but couldn’t manage a nod, forcing out a smile instead.
“You’re pretty sturdy,” Louis patted A-Long’s arm.
Suddenly, A-Long’s arm stopped hurting, and he stared wide-eyed. “You are a true warrior, Louis the Sixth! You are the second strongest fighter I have ever seen!”
Louis, about to chat with A-Long, heard this and darkened. Without another word, he sat down.
