Chapter 131: Who Is This Now?!
"Why are you two coming over so late at night? And neither of you even knocks." Louie asked, sitting on the sofa opposite them while drying his hair. He figured Yingling had already guessed the truth, so there was no point in pretending anymore.
Lilith shook her head blankly, then pointed toward her sister with the same vacant expression. To her surprise, she watched as her sister crawled over, nuzzling her face against Louie's leg like a little fox.
"I... I encountered a very, very difficult problem today~ I absolutely had to come and ask you." Yingling pouted at Louie, adding, "I need to be tested."
"Fine, what's the question? Go ahead," Louie said, drying his hair, feeling that some things needed to be discussed with Yingling anyway.
Yingling tapped her lips with her finger, recalling the question.
"What kind of musical instrument is long and thick, and has to be put into one's mouth?"
Louie was stunned, and so was Lilith.
[Sister! Sister!! Arghhhhh! You came here just to steal my man!] Lilith jumped up in anger, but she didn't dare approach. She stomped her feet in place, cursing silently and crying, nearly fainting from rage: "That was the line I prepared for today! What exactly are you here for, Sister? You even stole my line!"
"Shut your trap!" Yingling snapped back. "From today on, this is your brother-in-law!"
"Bro-brother-in-law?!" Lilith’s mouth hung open. She pointed at Louie, then at herself—so you really did come to steal my man? Sister, you're being too much of a bully!
"Don't be so mean to your sister."
"Hmm~ no way, she’s being disrespectful and needs a lesson." With that, Yingling became too busy to speak.
Watching these two shameless people, Lilith nearly fainted from grief on the sofa.
It seemed even Louie couldn't watch anymore. He glared at Yingling, pushed her aside, and went over to help Lilith up—what on earth was going on here!
It was such a headache.
Yingling was truly too reckless!
"Everyone, just go back already."
Feeling Louie helping her up, Lilith wiped away her tears, only to see her sister wiping her mouth while looking at her with a smug expression. Infuriated, Lilith pushed Louie away, saying, "Don't touch me. Go be with my sister then."
"Is that any way to talk to your brother-in-law!" Yingling scolded, preparing to slap Lilith: "Get out!"
"I won't!" Lilith sobbed, looking at Louie. "Brother-in-law, I understand musical instruments too."
That "brother-in-law" nearly caused Yingling to choke on her own breath.
That night, the two sisters ended up performing their "music." Those two shameless little foxes were both equally proficient in instruments and had a keen sense of rhythm.
Various "lines" were delivered one after another.
It was certainly an eye-opening experience for Louie.
Perhaps because her sister kept calling Louie "brother-in-law," Yingling started acting petulant and began calling Louie "brother-in-law" herself.
The dispute between the sisters naturally ended with the older sister's victory. However, after Lilith cried, Yingling was brought to tears by her "brother-in-law."
Finally, the sister and Louie coaxed Lilith into practicing "horse riding" to prepare for the next day's hunt, which finally managed to calm the younger sister down.
After a few performances, Louie sent the sisters back to their rooms—it was the middle of the night, and there were neighbors on both sides. It wouldn't do to wake anyone up.
The performance was exhausting. Although Yingling was physically spent, after she put on her clothes and stepped out, she looked radiant. She couldn't help but look up at Louie—her master was truly a living, breathing man, not some monster escaped from a dream. She was no longer as afraid as she had been before.
Only the younger sister returned to bed with a mournful face, rubbing her bottom, which was red from her sister's smacks, and fell straight to sleep. But her sister pulled her ear and gave her a fierce warning: no one was allowed to know about the relationship between Lilith and her brother-in-law. Even less was anyone allowed to know about the relationship between her and Louie.
After hearing her sister's words, Lilith was still a bit dismissive—what’s the big deal? We’re just a pair of shameless lovers anyway. But after being lectured by her sister, she behaved herself.
Yingling thought a lot that night. In reality, she didn't care if other women knew about her relationship with her master, including Ossicris—that little girl still hadn't grasped the situation and was busy trying to cling to Louie. When the time was ripe, she would have a talk with her. This backer was large enough to support many people. In any case, she didn't care.
But although she didn't care, she couldn't be too flashy. On one hand, it wouldn't look good for others to know she was involved with the princess's lover.
On the other hand, although the rumors about the Faceless One had been suppressed by the narrative that "Fox and Bol had conspired to trap Harold," if she were to walk too closely with her master in broad daylight, it would still easily lead suspicious minds to make too many connections.
To avoid being exposed one day, Yingling had already come up with a story: she and Louie had met through Lilith. After she went to the office to cause trouble that day, she had intended to teach the boy a lesson that night, but was easily defeated.
Having witnessed the strength of this powerful warrior, she believed "Louie VI" was a hero capable of defeating the Dark Lord and the Faceless One, and thus she followed him.
As for who the Faceless One really was—naturally, that was just a story concocted by Bol. Otherwise, she wouldn't dare to be with Louie.
The reason she hadn't revealed their relationship was simply to avoid gossip like "the sister stole the brother-in-law" or "Ossicris's minister shares a knight with her."
Therefore, she still had to continue pretending that her relationship with Louie was bad, or even that they were rivals.
Thinking of this, Yingling’s face turned slightly red, and she felt a little scared. She suddenly realized that she had been flirting with the big boss for the past few days.
Now that she knew the situation, she was still intentionally acting against him—would her master skin her alive?
...
The next morning, after Louie washed up, he went to the dining hall for breakfast. He found everyone except Yingling dressed in hunting gear, discussing the hunt.
Although Yingling looked a bit tired, she seemed to have gotten up early. She had already finished eating and was puffing on her smoking pipe to refresh herself.
Seeing Louie walk over, she didn't even glance at him, acting as if she were a complete stranger to him.
'This little vixen, she's quite sensible.' Louie took his seat.
Lilith secretly threw a flirtatious glance at Louie, but after a fierce glare from Yingling, she immediately behaved herself.
The little fox couldn't help but recall her sister's words—if she dared to be so blatant again, she would be skinned.
She ate her meal quietly, not daring to provoke her sister.
Poor Ossicris. She had no idea what the prince of her dark fairy tale—the one who was supposed to be loyal to her alone and destined for a tragic romance—had been up to last night. If there really were a fairy tale, it would indeed be a bit "tragic."
It could be said that things were almost the exact opposite of what Ossicris imagined.
It seemed they hadn't been hunting in a long time, and Ossicris was a bit excited.
"Sister Yingling, you're really not... oh, I forgot. Lilith, are you really going?"
"Your Highness, my horsemanship is quite extraordinary, you know." Lilith twirled the fork in her hand and looked at Louie with a smile: "If you don't believe me, ask (Louie)..."
Lilith was halfway through her sentence when she was glared at by her sister. She immediately wilted, her voice dropping to a whisper: "Cough, ask my sister."
Ossicris looked at Yingling, cautiously asking about the elder sister's plans for the day. She hoped Yingling would go to Crawley with Louie to help out, but Yingling glanced at Louie and rolled her eyes.
Louie raised an eyebrow.
[Louie's Anger +1]
Ossicris felt a bit helpless and looked at Louie, signaling him not to be angry.
After the small interlude, Ossicris chatted with Kate about the situation among the various nobles. Hearing about the hunt, Louie thought it sounded interesting. However, he still had to do some work for little Ao today, so he had to pass.
Still, Louie chatted with everyone for a while.
"I'm quite good at riding horses, and my archery isn't bad either," Louie said, wiping the corner of his mouth with a straight face.
Kate and Yingling flushed bright red, and Lilith smirked secretly. Helen blinked, confused, and Ossicris blinked as well before her face turned slightly red. She cursed under her breath: 'Nothing but filth comes out of a dog's mouth.'
The group chatted happily, ignoring Louie. Louie began talking to the mages nearby.
Suddenly, he felt a foot rest on his chair, teasing him—the foot was trembling, appearing hesitant and nervous.
I'm terrified, but I must flirt.
Louie couldn't help but look around with a strange expression.
Everyone was chatting and eating. Lilith saw him looking and blinked in confusion, not understanding. Yingling was just puffing on her pipe, rolling her eyes at him, looking like she couldn't be bothered.
Louie looked at the group opposite him with a puzzled expression—who was it?
Ossicris, sitting opposite Louie, saw his gaze and blushed slightly, then pretended not to notice and continued eating with her head down.
Louie scratched his hair and leaned back in his chair—that's impossible, right!
