Yun Chuxia’s cheeks still carried a lingering flush.
She stood there for several seconds before walking over.
She took the wineglass from Si Yuchuan’s hand, pressed it to her lips, lifted her chin slightly, and drained it in one go.
The ink-black hair spilling over her chest slid backward with the motion, revealing the pale, slender curve of her neck.
The fragrance of wine rose through the air, filling the room with intoxicating allure.
Their eyes met, and an ambiguous tension began to rise.
Yun Chuxia leaned forward and gave him a push. Si Yuchuan allowed himself to fall back against the sofa, the corner of his brow twitching faintly as he remained silent.
She had not expected him to be so easy to move. Unable to stop herself in time, she pitched forward.
By the time she realized what had happened, she was already sprawled across Si Yuchuan.
With one sweep of his long arm, he simply lifted her onto his lap.
Her usual orange-blossom fragrance had been muted by the scent of alcohol. The sweetness drifted faintly through the air, teasing the depths of the heart until they itched.
Yun Chuxia settled into a kneeling position and raised both hands to cup the handsome face before her.
She took aim and lunged forward.
Si Yuchuan reacted swiftly, gripping her chin.
“Trying to assassinate me?”
Yun Chuxia’s cheeks were flushed crimson. Her drunken eyes were hazy as she curved her lips into a smile.
The corners of her eyes bent with them, and a ripple stirred within her glistening gaze.
She shook her head.
“What kind of wine was that, Uncle?”
It seemed to have a very high alcohol content.
Si Yuchuan turned his wrist slightly, and the strands of hair brushing Yun Chuxia’s cheeks swayed with the movement of her head.

Her scarlet lips were squeezed into a pout beneath the pressure of his fingers, and each breath carried a faint trace of wine.
Watching her, Si Yuchuan’s usually cool, distant features took on a restrained smile.
“What did you call me?”
Yun Chuxia tilted her head. “Uncle?”
His fingers tightened.
“Little drunkard, call me by my name.”
Yun Chuxia’s brows drew together slightly. Her damp lashes lifted as she stared straight at him, seemingly struggling to think through the question.
“Si... Yuchuan.”
The corners of Si Yuchuan’s lips curved upward.
“Correct. How clever.”
Encouraged by his praise, Yun Chuxia brightened. She planted both hands on her hips, her voice crisp and sweet.
“Si Yuchuan. Si Yuchuan.”
The man whose name she called answered every time.
When Yun Chuxia finally grew tired of calling him, her body folded limply against him.
Perhaps the alcohol had magnified her emotions. Perhaps the warmth seeping through his thin shirt was simply too vivid. Yun Chuxia’s eyes suddenly burned, and the tears she had held back for so long finally spilled over.
She had been deceived for three years, yet still had to smile and offer her public congratulations.
Her family was cold and indifferent, caring only about the value she could provide.
And she herself had plotted every step with painstaking care, using her own body as bait, merely to gamble on the possibility of staying alive.
She was truly exhausted.
With her soft, fragrant body in his arms, Si Yuchuan’s eyes gradually darkened.
His broad palm covered her slender waist. Suddenly, warmth spread across his collarbone, followed by a distinct dampness.
She was crying silently, holding herself back.
His palm stiffened for a moment. In the end, it moved upward, settling at the center of her delicate shoulder blades.
He began to pat her rhythmically.
Gently and tenderly, with warmth and acceptance.

Yun Chuxia had seen such a scene only in her dreams. Slowly, she calmed down, squeezed her eyes shut, rubbed her head lightly against him, and drifted to sleep.
With a resigned sigh, Si Yuchuan picked her up.
Moisture still clung to the corners of her eyes. Her clearly defined lashes had gathered into damp wisps, and the tip of her nose was faintly red, making her look utterly pitiful.
Si Yuchuan stared at her for a while, then murmured as though speaking to himself:
“Leaving him made you this heartbroken?”
The soft mattress sank beneath her as Yun Chuxia landed safely.
His well-defined fingers brushed across the corners of her eyes, silently wiping away the traces of tears.
Then they moved in turn over the delicate bridge of her nose, her glistening red lips, and her small chin.
Si Yuchuan straightened, his gaze sweeping from the tips of her hair to her toes from above.
Her eyes remained as clear as ever, but her body had matured considerably over the past few years.
Every curve rose and fell in perfect lines.
Yun Chuxia, you were the one who threw yourself at me.
The corner of Si Yuchuan’s mouth lifted slightly. His expression was dark and unreadable, like a wolf that had captured its prey.
Unfortunately, the little lamb knew only how to kindle the fire, not how to put it out.
With a soft sigh, Si Yuchuan turned and walked into the bathroom.
