Chapter 19: Blindfolded with a Tie
When Yun Chuxia returned to the Yunlu Villa, Si Yuchuan had not yet come back. She picked up her phone, looking at it hesitantly, wondering whether to ask if he was coming back. He had left in a hurry today without saying where he was going. Nowadays, everyone at least worked with proper credentials; wouldn’t it be polite to check in?
Just as Yun Chuxia was conflicted, her phone buzzed with a message from Si Haochen:
“Chuxia, where are you? I’m coming to pick you up for dinner.”
Immediately, a flood of comments appeared alongside the protagonist’s message:
“Scumbag, secretly texting the female supporting character under the table while eating with the female lead.”
“Men really only behave when hung on the wall.”
“This is infuriating, the male lead’s image is shattered, I’m dropping this show.”
Yun Chuxia flicked her finger and blocked him outright.
Comments exploded:
“Red alert! The supporting female blocked the male lead!”
“Well done!”
“The male lead looks so guilty, he’s gone out to make another call—what mischief is he up to now?”
“Wait a minute, the female lead is also secretly texting. Is she going to the Jiutian TV station?”
“Has the female lead discovered something?”
“In the original story, the supporting female followed the female lead to her workplace to make trouble. Is the show reversing the roles?”
Yun Chuxia rubbed her forehead. Could it be? Was the female lead investigating her too? She constantly tried to avoid them, but the male and female leads kept pursuing her. Without intersecting with her, could their plot even move forward?
She had already signed the contract today; backing out now would incur a hefty penalty.
And yet, she hadn’t done anything wrong—why should she run away?
But that fated ending was like a curse, lodged in her chest, constantly reminding her and often stabbing at her heart.
Every time she tried to evade or resist, that invisible hand of fate followed relentlessly.
As soon as Si Yuchuan entered, he saw Yun Chuxia sitting on the sofa, her brow furrowed in worry.
He took off his coat and said, “Little bitter gourd, who’s been bullying you?”
His low, magnetic voice was like a soothing balm, calming Yun Chuxia’s tense nerves.
No need to be afraid—there was such a huge wild card on her side.
Yun Chuxia quickly stood to greet him but felt at a loss seeing Si Yuchuan strolling over with his hands casually in his pockets.
What was a newlywed wife supposed to do?
Give a hug? Too enthusiastic.
Just smile then.
Yun Chuxia forced a polite smile, showing her eight perfect teeth.
Si Yuchuan tapped her head lightly. “Receptionist?”
Her smile froze, her mind a muddle.
She’d never been married before; it really was quite awkward.
If only she had prepared a drink in advance.
Maybe she should learn from Zhao Jingrou.
Though hypocritical and biased, Zhao Jingrou had Yun Hongbin completely under her thumb.
Recalling Zhao Jingrou’s tone, Yun Chuxia tried to sweeten her voice: “You’re back~”
Si Yuchuan paused while removing his tie, turning back with a teasing glint in his dark eyes:
“Did you get your throat caught in the door?”
Yun Chuxia felt defeated and lowered her head.
Even the greeting had been a loss—marrying a stranger was indeed very awkward.
More awkward than going to bed.
Her wrist warmed as Si Yuchuan took her hand and placed it on his tie.
“Mrs., help me untie this.”
Yun Chuxia’s face flushed crimson. She had undone it twice before—both times with her teeth.
The more nervous she got, the more her hands disobeyed her. Her slender fingers fumbled for a long while but couldn’t loosen it.
Especially with that red mark below his Adam’s apple still vivid, constantly reminding her of the mischief she’d gotten into last night.
Her stray hairs brushed against Si Yuchuan’s chin, tickling slightly.
Like a little kitten softly pawing at his heart.
The sweet scent of orange blossoms stirred their breaths.
“It’s untied.”
Yun Chuxia exhaled deeply.
Si Yuchuan’s gaze darkened as he looked at her deeply.
He took the tie and blindfolded her eyes.
