Chapter Sixty-Three: A New Way to Play (Asking for Recommendation Votes and Monthly Tickets)
“Ha ha ha ha! Brogy, it’s been a long time since the island was this lively. Let’s keep the party going!” Dorry laughed.
Just like that, Luffy and Vivi smoothly joined in the festivities with everyone else!
Monkey D. Luffy, known as “Straw Hat” Luffy, is the captain of the Straw Hat Crew and the Grand Fleet, a Rubber Fruit user. His current bounty is thirty million Berries, and his dream is to find the legendary One Piece and become the Pirate King.
Nefertari Vivi, princess of the Alabasta Kingdom, former agent of Baroque Works under the codename Miss Wednesday. At present, she’s considered a member of the Straw Hat crew, and her mount is the speedy duck Karoo.
As these facts flashed through Buffon’s mind, he recalled Ace’s instructions before they parted ways, and quickly reviewed the plot in his head.
“Something’s about to happen!”
He saw that, except for himself, Reiju, Baggio, and Vivi, everyone who’d been drinking had already collapsed.
“So they’ve switched tactics, huh? Looks like Mr. 3, that scheming dog, has grown a bit,” Buffon muttered to himself, just as he was about to move and detoxify everyone.
But before he could act, Reiju had already begun. Only then did Buffon remember—how could he have forgotten about the “Pink Venom” ability? With her around, he had no need to lift a finger for detoxification.
Suddenly, a massive pterodactyl soared overhead, and four figures descended from the sky, suspended beneath a lemon-yellow parasol.
“They’re here,” Buffon murmured, a sly smile tugging at his lips.
Beside him, Vivi took a step back, withdrawing the Peacock Chain hidden in her sleeve, her voice tense: “Four high-ranking agents at once…?”
“Are you afraid, Princess Vivi? The people of Alabasta are still waiting for you to save them,” Buffon asked quietly.
Vivi stared at Buffon in shock, “How do you know who I am?”
Buffon only shook his head, offering no explanation. Instead, he said, “Go help with the antidote.”
Vivi was even more astonished at this. “Is she planning to take on all four agents alone?”
But with no better option, she could only choose to trust this man she’d just met, who was willing to help her. Still, she didn’t move, remaining by Buffon’s side, feeling that—given her knowledge of the agents—she could be of some help.
Reiju, who was detoxifying Lili, glanced up and muttered to herself, “Baroque Works, huh? Looks like they’ve got their eyes on the bounty of these two giants.”
Buffon glanced at a giant boulder nearby, flashed over, tapped it lightly with his toe, and gave it a casual kick.
The massive stone—three times Buffon’s size—shot toward the four figures like a rocket.
Mr. 3’s reaction was lightning-fast; he quickly enveloped the four in a shell of wax, forming a sturdy, giant wax ball.
But what was once as hard as iron shattered like an eggshell beneath the weight of the boulder.
The four agents were mercilessly flattened, their bodies crushed to the ground.
Watching the arc of the flying boulder, Buffon thought to himself, “If I’d known, I’d have used half my strength—now I have to go pick up the bodies.”
Vivi, witnessing the scene, covered her mouth in shock, her eyes wide as saucers as she stared at Buffon.
As a former Baroque Works agent, Vivi was intimately familiar with the strength of those four. Yet in less than a minute, these high-ranking agents who once struck fear into pirates everywhere had been turned to mincemeat under Buffon’s heel.
Such power simply defied reason!
“If Captain Buffon were willing to help us in Alabasta, there would be even more hope of ending the rebellion…”
Buffon shot Baggio a look, and Baggio sprinted toward where the boulder had landed.
Fifteen minutes later, Baggio returned, carrying one person under each arm.
All four were battered, unconscious, and clearly in a sorry state.
Baggio dropped them at Buffon’s feet and whispered a few words in his ear.
Buffon nodded, and Baggio disappeared back into the forest.
Buffon squatted beside the four, contemplating his next move.
Among them were three Devil Fruits: Miss Valentine’s Light-Light Fruit, Mr. 5’s Bomb-Bomb Fruit, and Mr. 3’s Wax-Wax Fruit.
But what intrigued Buffon most was Miss Goldenweek’s power. Though this sixteen-year-old girl wasn’t a Devil Fruit user, she could manipulate emotions through color.
He wondered if this ability could be replicated. After all, in the original story, Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 3 nearly took down the entire Straw Hat crew on Little Garden.
Especially her skill “Betrayal Black”—if someone touched the totem she painted with black pigment, even the most loyal friends would turn against each other.
Prepared in advance, this was a weapon of mass confusion!
Then there was Mr. 5’s Bomb-Bomb Fruit—a god-tier power wasted in his hands. He could detonate even the air he exhaled, yet he used it only to flick explosive boogers, a true waste of potential.
If this fruit were wielded by someone else, not just a future Supernova, but even one of the Four Emperors’ officers could soar in power.
Look at Doflamingo’s subordinate Gladius—his Pop-Pop Fruit is clearly an inferior version of the Bomb-Bomb Fruit, yet he developed it to such an extent that he slaughtered enemies in Dressrosa.
With these thoughts, Buffon summoned his suture needle, ready to stitch up their wounds.
At that moment, three figures dashed out of the forest. Upon seeing Vivi and Luffy, a long-nosed man shouted, “Luffy! Vivi! Are you okay?”
Buffon glanced back—it was Usopp, Zoro, and Nami. Aside from Sanji, the Straw Hat crew was now all present.
“I wonder how Reiju will react to seeing her brother here,” Buffon mused as he worked.
He couldn’t help but ponder whether, just as the Munch-Munch Fruit could synthesize items, the Copy Fruit could be merged as well. He decided to test this.
After quickly stitching Miss Valentine’s wounds, Buffon switched to the Munch-Munch Fruit, opened the “Character Index,” and sure enough, the fusion option was now available.
But what to fuse it with? Buffon fretted.
Of the eleven fruits on hand, none seemed a good match for the Bomb-Bomb Fruit. What if he created something bizarre?
After some hesitation, he chose the Clear-Clear Fruit, which could be easily obtained again from Absalom if ruined.
After confirming the fusion, a new ability emerged: the Light-Clear Fruit!
Well…
Luckily, Buffon discovered a “decompose” option as well.
“How considerate! Every position comes with a substitute! Does that mean the coach should assign me a spot, too?”
With that, Buffon switched back to the Suture Fruit, continuing to stitch up the remaining three.
Eventually, the Wax-Wax Fruit and Soul Fruit fused to form the Sacrifice Fruit; the Bomb-Bomb Fruit and Silence Fruit became the Silent Bomb Fruit…
Looking at these names, Buffon had no urge to test their functions.
He also obtained Miss Goldenweek’s ability, though its name was a bit odd—Color Curse.
Vivi, who had been watching all along, exclaimed, “Amazing! Captain Buffon, you’re actually a doctor—and your stitching technique is simply miraculous!”
Having grown up in the palace, Vivi had seen all kinds of doctors, but this man completely overturned her understanding of the profession.
At first, she had wondered why Captain Buffon would heal his enemies. But after seeing his skill, she realized—
“So this is what it means to be a truly great doctor! No matter who the patient is, you do your best to heal them, never lowering your standards because of allegiance!”
Buffon did not reply, but stood and walked over to the two giants; their wounds were the main reason he’d come to Little Garden.
After a hundred years of battling, Dorry and Brogy had accumulated countless external and internal injuries.
It took Buffon more than two hours to treat them both.
The two, feeling reborn, thanked Buffon with utmost sincerity.
Though their words were simple, in their hearts Buffon was already a god of medicine.
And Buffon himself was well satisfied with the rewards: not only had he gained the immense strength of the giants, but he’d finally obtained the Elbaf Spear: Hakoku, that he’d long coveted.
Just then, Luffy, who had been watching Buffon stitch wounds, suddenly spoke up:
“We’re short a doctor on our ship. Won’t you join us?”
Without hesitation, Buffon shook his head. “You’ll find the doctor that’s right for you,” he told Luffy.
Luffy was about to protest when Baggio, who had previously vanished, reappeared.
“That person is in a small house made of wax!”
At this, Buffon recalled the storyline, a sly smile spreading across his lips. He called out to Reiju, “Reiju, come with me—I’ll introduce you to someone!”
