“Then I’ll be going.” Qiao Wei and Luo Chen had reached a small town on the outskirts of Eclipse City, where the witch they were seeking resided. Qiao Wei waved to Luo Chen and headed into the town.

Only after Qiao Wei disappeared from sight did Luo Chen murmur softly, “I’m sorry, Qiao Wei.” His voice was thick with guilt. Then he quietly lay down on a smooth stone, watching the drifting clouds above, his eyes growing uncomfortably warm.

“Is this really the right thing to do?” Suddenly, a voice seemed to drift over. Luo Chen remained motionless, only speaking coldly when the person drew near, “Luo Xuan? Why are you here?”

Luo Xuan sat on the stone as well, worry etched across his face. “That ‘Prisoner’ has appeared again, hasn’t he? He wants my blood to extend his life, to attain immortality. But we can’t kill him—because… he has the blood of the Ancestor flowing in his veins. Looks like that damned Elder let him feed. Those two are truly troublesome.”

“I don’t want to concern myself with these matters right now.” Luo Chen merely furrowed his brow slightly, spat out the words coldly, and closed his eyes. The two of them waited in silence for Qiao Wei. At some point, Rhine arrived as well; she simply sat quietly to the side, waiting with them.

Upon entering the town, Qiao Wei found everything peaceful, lacking the bloodthirsty air of Eclipse City, and instead possessing an inexplicable sense of sanctity. She stopped a woman and politely asked, “Excuse me, is there a powerful witch living here?”

“Yes, do you need something from her?” The woman smiled kindly at Qiao Wei.

“I do. Could you please tell me how to find her?” Qiao Wei returned the smile.

“I’ll take you there. It’s not far. But be careful—the witch has a strange temper, so try not to offend her.” The woman chatted as she led Qiao Wei down the path. Soon they arrived before a quaint old house. After thanking the woman, Qiao Wei approached the door and knocked. When it opened, she was taken aback—a white-haired, elderly woman stood before her.

“May I ask… are you…” Qiao Wei began, but the witch cut her off, her tone sharp and commanding, “What do you want with me?”

Nervously swallowing, Qiao Wei ventured, “Could I perhaps explain inside? It’s… not appropriate to talk at the door…”

With an impatient nod, the witch let Qiao Wei in. The most striking feature of the house was the enormous crystal ball in the center of the main hall, softly glowing. The witch took a seat first, and only then did Qiao Wei dare sit as well. She spoke with great care, “Grandmother, I am a descendant of the angels. I have come hoping you can break the curse that binds my fate. Will you help me break it?”
