Chapter Fifteen: Ji Han, Sharing a Nickname with Teddy
“Do you think it’s really okay for us to just leave Ji Han behind like this?” Song Yuxin felt a twinge of guilt.
It would be one thing if they were just playing outside, but now they had even dragged his girlfriend along. If she were Ji Han, she was probably already fuming to the point of fainting.
Su Zhihan was greedily devouring a large skewer, mumbling through a mouthful, “What’s wrong with it? He can’t get along with us anyway.”
“He’s such a hypocrite. He never eats street food, as if it would lower his status. People like him, high and mighty, we shouldn’t bother to bring him down from his pedestal.”
Su Zhihan had never understood those wealthy heirs in novels who didn’t know street food and looked down on it. To her, street food was the ultimate.
Dishes from high-end restaurants might taste good, but after a while, they felt bland and lifeless.
She much preferred street food—the joy of walking while eating skewers, surrounded by the lively buzz of voices, filled with the warmth of everyday life.
Song Miaoke also enjoyed the atmosphere here; it had been a long time since she had visited a night market.
“This stall’s stinky tofu is absolutely delicious. I’ve never had better stinky tofu anywhere else,” Song Miaoke eagerly recommended her favorite snack to the group.
Su Zhihan and Song Yu readily joined in, eating heartily without a trace of pretension.
Watching them so happy, Song Miaoke couldn’t help but think of her current life.
Since officially dating Ji Han, she hadn’t gone out to the night market on her own for a long time.
Ji Han always complained that street food wasn’t hygienic and said their home chef could cook for them, but the chef’s dishes, no matter how well made, could never compare to eating fresh food on the spot.
It wasn’t just about taste; it was the atmosphere.
The home lacked that lively, bustling aura—something impossible to replicate indoors.
After Ji Han finally finished work and came home, there was only a servant there besides him.
When the chef brought the food to the table and saw Ji Han’s icy expression, the smile on the chef’s face immediately vanished.
Miss Song isn’t here, and Mr. Ji looks truly terrifying like this.
While eating, Ji Han picked up his phone.
He was unsettled inside and wasn’t going to let others have it easy either!
If he couldn’t deal with Su Zhihan and the others, how could he not handle the Lin family!
---
The Lin household was in utter chaos. Lin Pingting locked herself in her room as soon as she returned home, refusing to come out no matter what.
Lin’s father and mother saw her like this and knew she had failed, which only made them more displeased.
Lin’s father coldly said to Lin’s mother, “Look at the daughter you bore—completely useless.”
Lin’s mother’s face darkened at the rebuke but dared not argue back.
Shaken to the core in her room, Lin Pingting trembled. Her long-hidden secret had been exposed.
If this got out, how could she ever face the public again?
Now, she only hoped that what happened at the Ji family’s old residence hadn’t leaked out. Though that hope was faint, it was all she had left.
But that hope was destined to be shattered.
Ji Han, the resentful father, feeling uneasy himself, directly targeted her.
Without needing to consider Madam Ji’s feelings, Ji Han struck swiftly and decisively. In the past, he had been restrained out of respect for his mother’s dignity, but now that obstacle was gone.
Within a short time, the news that the eldest Miss Lin had drugged her own aunt spread all over the internet.
When Su Zhihan scrolled through her phone and saw this trending at number one, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Look, look! Lin Pingting is finished this time—the entire Lin family is done for! Hahaha.”
She laughed like a villain, stroking her chin and squinting as if scheming, “I’m sure this has our Ri Batian’s handiwork!”
Song Yu and Song Miaoke were momentarily confused, clueless about who Ri Batian was.
Su Zhihan looked at them disdainfully, “Seriously? You don’t even know who Ri Batian is? Who else always carries that domineering aura, like he owns the sun and the earth? Use your brains a little.”
Song Yu twitched the corner of his mouth, realizing who she meant. “Ji Han knows you gave him another nickname, right?”
Song Miaoke exclaimed, “Huh? Zhihan’s Ri Batian is Ji Han?”
Upon reflection, Ji Han’s usual demeanor did fit the nickname quite well.
Though Su Zhihan often also used that nickname for a certain little dog.
Last time, when Su Zhihan and Song Miaoke were shopping, they stumbled upon a video of a toy poodle. Su Zhihan joked that the poodle reacted to everything, making Ri Batian a perfect nickname for it.
---
Putting Ji Han and the toy poodle on the same level felt increasingly strange.
Song Miaoke quietly covered her face, trying hard to banish the thought from her mind.
Su Zhihan noticed her awkward expression and asked curiously, “What are you thinking? Isn’t your idea of Ri Batian Ji Han?”
After a few seconds of silence, Song Miaoke replied embarrassedly, “But last time when we were shopping, you said the toy poodle’s nickname should be Ri Batian.”
Song Yu was drinking beer; upon hearing this, he couldn’t hold back and sprayed the beer out, laughing uproariously. “Pfft! Hahaha! That’s too good, too good! Good thing Ji Han’s not here, or Su Zhihan would really get a beating.”
Su Zhihan had had a bit to drink and her memory was fuzzy. “Really? I don’t remember, but the nickname fits the poodle too.”
She solemnly patted Song Miaoke’s shoulder and said, “Tell Ji Han to be more generous. Let him share the nickname with the poodle. A domineering CEO shouldn’t be so stingy.”
Song Miaoke gave a dry smile in agreement.
She suspected Ji Han wouldn’t want to share that nickname with a poodle, or perhaps he wouldn’t want the nickname at all.
At home, Ji Han couldn’t stop sneezing. He suspected those three were continuously teasing him.
He only hoped Miaoke wouldn’t be led astray, especially not by Su Zhihan.
Su Zhihan had a host of bad habits; he didn’t want Miaoke to pick them up.
After venting his anger on the Lin family, Ji Han’s mood lifted considerably. That night, no one in the Lin household would sleep well.
With Ji Han’s stirring, the Lin family scandal attracted massive attention online.
A sixteen-year-old girl drugging her own aunt, ruining the aunt’s life, with the entire family complicit.
They trampled over their aunt’s suffering to climb higher, then scorned her as a disgrace. This was the so-called illustrious Lin family for you!
