Making such a fuss over a little fever—truly unheard of.

The whole night passed in a flurry of activity. Su Zhihan looked out at the pale morning sky, feeling utterly helpless.

She had to go to work in the morning. She currently worked at a veterinary hospital, a job she quite liked.

Being surrounded daily by so many adorable, furry creatures lifted her spirits.

Ji Han, to his credit, hadn’t been completely heartless; he even prepared breakfast for them in the morning.

Su Zhihan’s eyes nearly closed as she ate; just as she was about to slump face-first onto her plate, Song Yu swiftly grabbed her ponytail.

She gasped sharply in pain. “What are you doing?”

Song Yu awkwardly waved his hand, explaining, “I didn’t mean to; if I hadn’t caught you, you would’ve fallen right onto your plate.”

There really wasn’t anywhere else to grab—her hair was the most accessible.

Su Zhihan loosened her ponytail, frustration bubbling with nowhere to go.

She realized she probably couldn’t work today—she simply didn’t have the energy. It was better to take a day off.

By the time she returned home, it was already eight in the morning. The night had been utterly chaotic.

She hoped next time the leads wouldn’t have any issues. She just wanted to live quietly as a mere bystander, not get entangled in their affairs.

Lunch was delivered by Song Yu. Seeing this dazzling, flamboyant man, Su Zhihan ruffled her disheveled hair and yawned wearily. “Don’t you have to work?”

Song Yu squeezed into the room, proudly setting down the food. “I’m the boss of my company. Whether I work or not is entirely up to me. Hurry and freshen up—you’re a beauty, but you’ve turned into a lion queen. It hurts my eyes to look at you.”

“If you don’t want to see it, you don’t have to. I’m not forcing you,” Su Zhihan said, already used to this overly familiar fellow.

The lunch was exceptionally sumptuous, at least to Su Zhihan.

As they ate, they chatted about Ji Han and Song Miaoke.

Su Zhihan was genuinely afraid she’d be called over again one night. Once was bearable, but she couldn’t face a second time.

Didn’t a powerful CEO’s household have a dedicated family doctor?

“Aren’t you his family vet? He often calls you over when his pets are sick.”

Su Zhihan was speechless. “Big brother, I’m only his pet’s family vet.”

Pets and humans aren’t the same. Besides, the romantic development between those two would surely include some intense heartbreak.

The heroine would suffer physical and emotional torment. She might even be dragged on stage.

Just thinking about it made Su Zhihan feel hopeless about the future.

Watching Song Yu eat elegantly before her, Su Zhihan suddenly brightened with an idea. “Why don’t you recommend a family doctor for her? Preferably a female one.”

Song Yu didn’t understand what she meant. He understood recommending a family doctor, but why specifically a woman? “Are you sexist? Discriminating against male doctors?”

His gaze on Su Zhihan shifted oddly. He’d never suspected she was sexist. Never judge a book by its cover.

Seeing Song Yu’s strange look, Su Zhihan retorted irritably, “You’re the one with the sexism. If I were sexist, do you think we’d still be sitting at the same table having a meal?”

“Didn’t you see Ji Han’s expression when he looked at that doctor last night? I felt like he was about to tear the doctor apart alive.”

“Song Miaoke’s neck was only slightly exposed, yet Ji Han covered her with a blanket tightly. When the doctor lifted the blanket, his gaze was terrifying.”

This was the typical flaw of the domineering male lead: possessiveness, perhaps even a touch of paranoia.

“So if you’re going to find a doctor, it’s better to get a female one. Preferably someone older, married with kids, the kind who looks like she just came back from the market but obviously has superb medical skills.”

After saying this, Su Zhihan admired her own thoroughness.

Song Yu: ...

Seeing Song Yu’s utterly speechless face, Su Zhihan frowned at his expression. “What does that look mean? You don’t agree with my suggestion?”

Song Yu shook his head. “No, I think your suggestion is excellent and very thoughtful. Are you planning to be their love bodyguard?”

Even love bodyguards probably wouldn’t think this meticulously.

“Do you think I want to? I’m just afraid they’ll come to me again later. What if you find a young female doctor and their relationship suffers? They might blame you for it.”

From her experience reading Mary Sue novels, any young unmarried woman around the male lead almost always has feelings for him.

Sending over a young female doctor? That would be a disaster.

“Anyway, just help me out. With our friendship, you wouldn’t just ignore me, right?” Su Zhihan believed their friendship was good enough that asking for a favor wouldn’t be a problem.

Song Yu finished the last bite of his meal and pulled up all the information on his family doctors on his phone. “You pick.”

Looking through a dozen or so doctor profiles, Su Zhihan truly underestimated Song Yu.

One person had matched with so many doctors. Who was the real male lead here?

Ji Han didn’t even have a single family doctor, yet this supporting character had a dozen, all of whom were prominent specialists.

Su Zhihan’s gaze toward Song Yu shifted suspiciously.

Song Yu covered her eyes with his hand. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m not wasting medical resources. These doctors also see patients normally at hospitals. I just call them when I need to.”

Su Zhihan pulled his hand away, annoyed. “You just peeled shrimp and then wiped your hand on my face. That’s disgusting!”

Song Yu laughed brightly, handed her some tissue, and began introducing the doctors.

In the end, Su Zhihan chose the formidable-looking female doctor in her forties—someone who clearly exuded medical expertise just by appearance.

A woman in her forties wouldn’t develop feelings for Ji Han. She could be his mother’s age.

If feelings still developed, then Su Zhihan really would believe the world had gone mad—though, admittedly, it was hardly sane to begin with.

When Song Yu introduced this doctor to Ji Han, Ji Han’s first thought was that Song Yu was being too kind to Song Miaoke.

Otherwise, why send a female doctor over? They had never interacted before.
