Upon hearing that the milk tea was bought by Ji Han, Song Miaoke’s expression softened a bit. Perhaps he realized his mistake and was trying to make amends with the milk tea. A sweet feeling blossomed in Song Miaoke’s heart as she went downstairs.
Seeing Song Miaoke emerge with a smile, Lin Pingting quietly slipped into the shadows, waiting for her to arrive at the designated spot. When Song Miaoke reached the place to pick up the milk tea, she found no delivery person in sight. As she searched around, suddenly a large bag was thrown over her head.
Taking advantage of the moment, Lin Pingting attempted to tie Song Miaoke up, but Song Miaoke’s strength was formidable. Not only did she break free immediately, but she also slapped Lin Pingting several times in quick succession.
Dazed and seeing Song Miaoke about to escape, Lin Pingting decided to act decisively. She struck Song Miaoke with a stick until she lost consciousness. Looking down at the unconscious figure on the ground, Lin Pingting lightly touched her own bruised face, gasping from the pain.
She hadn’t expected this woman to be so strong. Thankfully, she had prepared in advance; otherwise, she might have been overpowered. Meanwhile, Ji Han at the company suddenly felt an ominous premonition. He hadn’t assigned bodyguards to follow Song Miaoke today, thinking it was just a momentary spat and nothing serious would happen.
But just as this thought crossed his mind, his phone rang. It was Song Miaoke calling, and Ji Han, thinking she had calmed down, hurriedly answered. However, the expression on his face changed drastically when he heard the voice on the other end.
Lin Pingting’s triumphant voice came through the line: “Ji Han, long time no see. Have you missed me during all this time?” Ji Han’s face hardened as he demanded, “Lin Pingting! How is Miaoke’s phone in your hands?”
Though he feared the worst, Ji Han clung to a sliver of hope, thinking maybe she had just lost her phone. Lin Pingting’s maniacal laughter echoed back: “Why else would the phone be with me? Of course, she is too. Your girlfriend isn’t very smart—I don’t know why you like her. A few days ago, there were bodyguards around, so I couldn’t make a move. But today, without them, you’ve handed me a golden opportunity.”
“Ji Han, Ji Han, what do you think would happen if I killed her? Would you follow her to the grave?” Lin Pingting caressed the face of the woman tied to a chair with a knife, her eyes wild with madness.
It was all because of this woman. If not for her, Lin Pingting would have married Ji Han and become the proud Mrs. Ji! How could such a foolish woman without any background be worthy of Ji Han?

Song Miaoke stared at Lin Pingting in terror—this woman was truly deranged! If only she hadn’t argued with Ji Han; hindsight was always so cruel. Lin Pingting tore off the tape from Song Miaoke’s mouth and pinched her hard. Song Miaoke cried out in pain, but Lin Pingting quickly gagged her again.
Hearing Song Miaoke’s voice, Ji Han leapt up in alarm, shouting, “How dare you hurt her!” Lin Pingting sneered, “Why wouldn’t I? Don’t forget, her life is in my hands now.”
“If you want to save her, come to this address yourself. I have a million yuan in cash. No cops—call the police and she’s dead.” Before Ji Han could respond, Lin Pingting hung up.
Furious, Ji Han slammed his fist on the desk. Why had he argued with Miaoke this morning? She didn’t want bodyguards following her openly, but he could have arranged secret protection. There was always a way.
After hanging up, Lin Pingting slapped Song Miaoke’s face twice. “Soon, you’ll see your boyfriend and how much he loves you.” Lin Pingting’s funds were depleted, and this million yuan was her last hope. With it, she could change her identity and start anew. But getting the money didn’t mean she would spare Song Miaoke. She wanted both—the money and Miaoke herself.
Knowing Ji Han well, Lin Pingting was certain he wouldn’t call the police. Yet, she was naïve to think that others were stupid—she wasn’t any smarter herself.
Ji Han immediately arranged for the million yuan to be prepared. He informed Song Yu and Su Zhihan about Miaoke’s predicament but wasn’t sure who else to tell. Su Zhihan pressed him for the full story and, after hearing it, suggested they just eliminate the problem altogether.
Was Miaoke really that foolish? She was only followed by bodyguards. If she disliked being overtly guarded, she could have told Ji Han to have them protect her discreetly. Ji Han, brilliant in business, was surprisingly dense in this matter. Was all his intelligence reserved solely for his work? Maybe they should just give up on saving her.
Su Zhihan was growing tired of their mess—it was all their own doing.

Song Yu proposed that Ji Han report the incident to the police. Lin Pingting was guilty of extortion and kidnapping, along with her previous crimes—this was clearly illegal. Why not involve the authorities?
Ji Han coldly replied, “No police. Reporting will endanger Miaoke. I will rescue her myself first, then deal with Lin Pingting.” His idea of ‘dealing with’ Lin Pingting was certainly not simple.
Su Zhihan and Song Yu exchanged glances and each landed a punch on Ji Han. His fierce glare hadn’t even faded before he was hit twice more.
After punching him, Su Zhihan kicked him hard. “I told you to deal with it! The country’s law exists for a reason, but you act like you’re some god!”
“Call the police, now! Don’t worry, Miaoke will be fine. Get those crazy ideas out of your head!”
How could the heroine be truly harmed? She might suffer a bit, but that was her own fault for behaving so stubbornly when she shouldn’t have. If not her, then who?
Su Zhihan pulled out a box of marbles she had brought to pass the time, along with her homemade slingshot. She had been playing with these since childhood—not perfect, but nearly nine out of ten shots accurate.
The three of them, along with the police, arrived at the designated location. Su Zhihan staked out with the officers in a corner, opening her ammunition box. The nearby policeman was speechless: “What kind of tactic is this?”
As soon as Ji Han appeared, Lin Pingting dragged Song Miaoke out. Before she could speak, Su Zhihan fired a marble from her slingshot straight into Lin Pingting’s eye. A scream rang out, and Ji Han rushed forward to pull Song Miaoke away.
Lin Pingting tried to swing her knife again, but Su Zhihan shot another marble right into her other eye. Ji Han kicked the knife from her hand and pinned her down.
The policeman crouching beside Su Zhihan stared at her bold moves, utterly stunned. She was fierce—had she ever thought of switching careers?
