Far from the mainland, on a deserted, uninhabited island.

Coughing violently, Lin Feng had just woken up, his throat burning, mouth filled with a salty, bitter taste, and his stomach churning so violently that he couldn’t help but retch up a few mouthfuls of seawater.

At the same time, he became aware of something soft, tender, and smooth in his arms—strangely comfortable at that.

He froze.

What?

The eldest Miss of the Cheng family was actually in his embrace?

So fair, so delicate, so full and round, truly deserving of her reputation as one of the four great beauties of Haicheng.

As Lin Feng regained his composure, the memories came rushing back. He’d been a waiter on a cruise ship when the accident happened, fallen into the sea, and, barely conscious, grabbed hold of a piece of driftwood—then Cheng Xiangyu clung to him like an octopus.

He realized that while her body was still warm, she had nearly drowned. Without delay, he laid her flat on the beach and started giving her artificial respiration.

Having grown up learning traditional medicine in his family, artificial respiration was easy for him.

In no time, she coughed up several mouthfuls of seawater and was saved.

Cheng Xiangyu opened her eyes just in time to see a man with his hands on her chest, his mouth moving close to hers as if to kiss her.

Fury flared in her eyes.

Smack!

She swung her hand with all her strength.

Fortunately, Lin Feng had trained in martial arts since childhood and was quick enough to dodge the blow by leaning back.

Missing her target only made Cheng Xiangyu even more annoyed. She snorted, “Get away from me! How dare a mere waiter touch someone like me?”

Lin Feng was exasperated. “I was giving you artificial respiration, trying to save you, and you hit me?”

“And what’s wrong with being a waiter?”

“After the cruise ship accident, who was it clinging to me for dear life, refusing to let go?”

He looked her over as he spoke.

This woman was indeed beautiful, her blue evening dress exuding a sense of noble elegance.

But who could have imagined that someone so enchanting and sophisticated could be so utterly lacking in basic manners?

Cheng Xiangyu coughed up two more mouthfuls of seawater, proving that Lin Feng really had been trying to save her.

Even so, she continued her unreasonable tirade, “You dare talk back to me?”

Lin Feng shook his head. “This is absurd. I only tried to help because you’d swallowed water, and I was even thinking of lifting you onto my shoulder and shaking you a few times to prevent pneumonia. But forget it—you’d probably just think I was trying to take advantage of you, wouldn’t you?”

Cheng Xiangyu huffed, “Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing? You’ll pay for this—I’ll make sure someone teaches you a lesson!”

Lin Feng replied, “Revenge can wait. You should focus on our current situation! I’ve already checked—this is an isolated, uninhabited island, far from the mainland. There’s little chance of rescue any time soon.”

Privately, he was speechless at her ingratitude.

She rolled her eyes. “Just because you say it’s a deserted island doesn’t make it so.”

He gestured around them. “See for yourself—the island is densely forested, with no signs of human activity anywhere, no trash washed up from any city, not even a lighthouse.”

She got to her feet and looked around; after a quick inspection, she realized he was right. Worry instantly clouded her features. “There’s not even a lighthouse? Then this must be an undiscovered island. What are we going to do?”

Lin Feng, however, remained calm.

As a child, he often accompanied his family into deep mountains to search for medicinal herbs, sometimes staying for ten days or more. He was well-versed in wilderness survival.

He looked back at Cheng Xiangyu. “We need to work together to survive until rescue arrives. I hope you’ll cooperate with me.”

She snorted, “And what gives you the right to tell me what to do? You should be the one cooperating with me!”

He replied, “If you want me to cooperate with you, fine—let’s hear your plan for what to do next.”

That stumped her.

Right now, she was terrified and confused, with no idea what to do.

Lin Feng said, “Let me share my plan. If you’re willing, we’ll work together; if not, we can each go our own way and fend for ourselves.”

She cut him off. “I’m not cooperating with you. I’m leaving.”

Lin Feng was starting to lose patience.

He’d already checked his pockets—aside from some cash useless on this island, he had nothing. His lighter and phone were gone, and making fire would be a challenge.

Fire was vital.

Still, he forced himself to ask, “Cheng Xiangyu, do you have anything useful on you?”

She refused to cooperate. “Why should I tell you?”

With that, she turned and walked away.

Lin Feng pursed his lips, thinking this woman was completely impossible to communicate with. She’d only be a burden. So he turned and headed in the opposite direction, planning to search along the shoreline for other survivors or even bodies in hopes of finding something useful.

But before long, Cheng Xiangyu came following after him.

Of course.

She was probably too scared to be alone.

Lin Feng smirked to himself, then turned and called out, “Stop following me!”

She pouted. “Why would I follow you? Don’t flatter yourself.”

He said, “Then stay away from me.”

She snapped, “Why should I? This isn’t your home—I’ll go wherever I please.”

Inwardly she scoffed, thinking, “I, a heiress, am willing to follow you; that’s a blessing you couldn’t earn in a hundred lifetimes, and yet you don’t appreciate it!”

Lin Feng recalled her earlier accusation that he was a lecher, plotting against her.

He grinned wickedly. “Ha! I’m a rogue, you know. Aren’t you afraid I’ll do something to you if you won’t keep your distance?”

With that, he deliberately spread his arms and advanced toward her, pretending he was about to pounce.

“What are you doing? Get away!” Cheng Xiangyu screamed in fright, stumbling back.

He said, “You’re the one who insists on following me. When the prey comes to the hunter, how could I possibly resist?”

With that, he lunged forward and knocked her to the ground.

“Get off! Get away!” she shrieked, flailing her arms in a desperate attempt to break free.

Lin Feng, however, was preoccupied with searching for supplies and had no real desire to do anything to her. He simply got up and walked away.

Cheng Xiangyu struggled and shouted for a while, but when she realized he wasn’t actually doing anything, she felt a twinge of contempt.

She decided he wouldn’t dare touch her anyway.

But as she watched him walk farther and farther away, fear crept in. She scrambled to her feet and hurried after him.

Seeing this, Lin Feng couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you following me again? Aren’t you afraid I’ll eat you up?”

With a sneer, Cheng Xiangyu retorted, “Ha! Would you even dare?”

Lin Feng was stunned.

So she was betting he wouldn’t dare do anything to her?

How could a man tolerate that?

He strode up to her and, without a word, grabbed her, deliberately sliding his hand under her dress.

This time, he was going to show her he meant business.

Cheng Xiangyu still didn’t quite believe he’d actually go through with it, so she tried to threaten him.

“Let go! If you touch me, you’re dead!”

Lin Feng had only meant to scare her, but her words infuriated him. Without hesitation, he reached under her dress and yanked off her underwear with a violent motion.
