Chapter 18: Kill
He Tian Tian, Wang Xingyu, and Cheng Xiangyu immediately agreed upon hearing this: “Yes, he must have planned it that way.” Inside, they were delighted.
Since Lin Feng spoke like this, it was clear he had no intention of cooperating with Yuan Shuang anymore.
Yuan Shuang hurriedly explained, “Big brother, you’ve misunderstood. You’re far stronger than me; how could I possibly have such thoughts?”
Lin Feng said, “So, to deal with me, you planned all along to take two women hostage. Just now, when you saw me coming, you immediately tried to use Cheng Xiangyu to threaten me.”
Yuan Shuang quickly waved his hand, “No, it’s not like that…”
But inside, he was grumbling, amazed at how Lin Feng was so clever as to know his true intentions.
Lin Feng continued, “Yesterday you escaped because you were fast, but today I won’t let you go. I’m going to kill you!”
He Tian Tian laughed heartily, “Ha ha, yes, Lin Feng, kill him!”
Cheng Xiangyu chimed in, “Lin Feng, mercy toward the enemy is cruelty to oneself. You must not let him go!”
Wang Xingyu added, “If we let such a menace live, who knows how many innocent people will be harmed later.”
Yuan Shuang stepped back half a pace and snorted, “Lin Feng, you really want to kill me? Killing is illegal!”
Lin Feng’s gaze grew icy cold. “If I want to kill you, and you don’t die, I’ll never have peace. Killing is illegal, yes, but this is a deserted island—who’s going to stop me?”
He Tian Tian, Wang Xingyu, and Cheng Xiangyu echoed, “Exactly, this is a deserted island, and only we know about it. If Lin Feng kills you, we won’t say a word. Who would find out?”
“Since that’s the case, then I’ll fight you to the death!”
Seeing that Lin Feng had no intention of sparing him, Yuan Shuang grabbed a handful of dirt and flung it at Lin Feng in an attempt at a surprise attack to gain the upper hand.
But Lin Feng simply shifted aside, dodging the dirt, and clenched his fist, striking at Yuan Shuang.
He had long resolved to kill Yuan Shuang.
Because as long as someone like Yuan Shuang lived, he had to worry not only about his own safety but also about Qin Meng’s.
Only, he had never killed anyone before; he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
The many questions he had asked Yuan Shuang earlier weren’t just empty words—they were a way of persuading himself, finding reasons to be ruthless toward Yuan Shuang.
Now that Yuan Shuang had attacked again, Lin Feng’s resolve was absolute.
Boom! Boom!
After a few strikes, Lin Feng knocked Yuan Shuang down again, then picked up a sharp tree branch and plunged it into Yuan Shuang’s chest.
“Ah…”
Yuan Shuang screamed in pain as blood gushed out like a fountain.
Knowing human anatomy well, Lin Feng immediately jumped back, avoiding a single drop of the blood splattering on him.
He Tian Tian, Wang Xingyu, and Cheng Xiangyu were so frightened at the sight they screamed loudly.
Though they all wanted Lin Feng to kill Yuan Shuang and had urged him to do so, actually witnessing the act terrified them.
He had killed a man!
They never expected Lin Feng to be so merciless.
As the shock wore off, their expressions turned fearful as they looked at Lin Feng.
Wang Xingyu recalled his shameless behavior just moments before.
He Tian Tian thought of how she had looked down on Lin Feng before, believing he wasn’t worthy of Qin Meng and that he was ruining their relationship.
Cheng Xiangyu remembered all the conflicts she’d had with Lin Feng.
Their fear deepened, worried that Lin Feng might turn on them next.
At that moment, Lin Feng turned his head toward them, his gaze as cold as if it could devour them.
Thump!
The three collapsed weakly to the ground.
Lin Feng said, “If we’re fortunate enough to be rescued and return, you know what you must do, right?”
He Tian Tian was the first to respond, “Yes, don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone that you killed Yuan Shuang.”
Cheng Xiangyu added, “If anyone asks how Yuan Shuang died, I’ll say he perished in a shipwreck.”
Wang Xingyu said, “That won’t do! It should be said that Yuan Shuang tried to kill the three of us, and Lin Feng, acting bravely, accidentally killed him. He should be rewarded. That’s the truth—Lin Feng saved us.”
Lin Feng nodded slightly. “Good, that’s what I wanted to hear.”
He inwardly sighed at how quickly Wang Xingyu had caved in.
Then he went straight to the tent that Yuan Shuang had constructed from clothes, packed all the clothing into the suitcase inside the tent, and inspected the contents.
Regrettably, all the food had been eaten by Yuan Shuang, and the water was gone.
He didn’t see the small knife or lighter that He Tian Tian had mentioned.
Lin Feng guessed Yuan Shuang didn’t have a knife or lighter on him; otherwise, he would have used the knife against him earlier.
Nearby, there was no fire pit or sign of any wood having been burned, which meant Yuan Shuang had not used a lighter to make fire last night.
Yet Lin Feng was pleased by this.
If the knife and lighter were not on Yuan Shuang, they must be with Qin Meng.
This meant Qin Meng had better chances of surviving on the island.
Another thing that pleased Lin Feng was that the three empty water bottles and a cup Yuan Shuang left behind after drinking were all still there.
With these, he wouldn’t have to carry the heavy pot to the waterhole to fetch fresh water.
He quickly put them into the suitcase.
Then he looked at Yuan Shuang, whose blood was nearly drained, dead and staring wide-eyed, as if unwilling to rest in peace.
“Ugh…”
Seeing Yuan Shuang’s blood-covered corpse, especially that gruesome dead face, Lin Feng felt nauseous and dizzy, almost retching.
“Ugh…”
At that moment, He Tian Tian, Wang Xingyu, and Cheng Xiangyu began to vomit.
Hearing their retching made Lin Feng feel even worse, and he couldn’t hold back any longer; he vomited as well.
He emptied the little bit of fishwort he had managed to eat over the past two days, feeling utterly drained.
But the worst off was Wang Xingyu.
Since waking yesterday, he hadn’t eaten anything, and though He Tian Tian kindly offered fishwort this morning, he had refused it.
With nothing in his stomach, he was vomiting yellow liquid—either stomach acid or bile—and after vomiting, he nearly fainted.
“What’s going on, Lin Feng? Why are we vomiting? Could it be the fishwort?” Cheng Xiangyu asked anxiously.
Lin Feng snorted, “What do you know? We just killed a man, or at least saw a murder. Seeing all that blood overwhelmed our brains. Combined with the poor air circulation here, the blood odor didn’t dissipate quickly, triggering a stress reaction. We just need to leave this place quickly.”
Despite his words, Lin Feng still forced himself to take the watch that Yuan Shuang had scavenged from Wang Xingyu’s body, suppressing his nausea before dragging the suitcase and leaving.
It was far more convenient to check the time with a watch than by counting breaths—the watch was indispensable.
Back at the shelter, Lin Feng felt much better and saw He Tian Tian, Wang Xingyu, and Cheng Xiangyu following him.
He immediately sneered coldly, “Go away! Don’t follow me, or I won’t be merciful!”
