Chapter 88: Crushing All Opposition
Chapter 88: Crushing All Opposition
Judging from the attitude of the patriarch of the Sun family, it was likely that the old man had already uncovered some hidden truths. Otherwise, he wouldn't have grown so wary, nor would he have allowed rumors to spread that he had no intention of passing the family business on to his son.
“That old fox, hmph. When I kill you and seize Future Group, I’ll deal with him next,” he muttered through gritted teeth, his anger barely contained.
Shen An’s words had struck a painful chord within him.
He had already endured too much from Shen An.
This man’s strength was overwhelming, and he had been suppressing him at every turn.
Sun Li no longer dared to underestimate the man before him.
This was the strongest person he had ever encountered in his entire life.
No one else had ever inspired such fear—not even Xu Tianming.
His relationship with Xu Tianming was purely one of cooperation; there was no room for fear.
But Shen An possessed an inscrutable aura that was impossible to grasp.
Sun Wu circled warily, trying to gauge Shen An’s reaction.
Yet Shen An remained utterly still, as though he didn’t care in the slightest.
Sun Wu halted.
“As expected, you’ve never revealed your true strength,” he said, gazing at Shen An, all the more convinced of the other’s power.
“Come, show me what you’re really capable of. Otherwise, you won’t leave here alive.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the electric barrier atop the wall was destroyed in an instant. More than a dozen elite fighters appeared, fixing their eyes on Shen An in the center of the courtyard.
Shen An looked up. The sky was heavy with clouds, and rain fell in relentless sheets.
Yet the rain seemed to shy away from his gaze.
After a glance at the newcomers, Shen An withdrew his attention.
“If you insist, very well,” he sighed, as though reluctant to reveal his true power.
Sun Wu readied himself, assuming a combat stance.
“Watch closely.”
As he spoke, his body suddenly vanished.
Sun Wu had been watching Shen An with wide, unblinking eyes, but when his opponent disappeared, a tremor of fear shot through him. Suddenly, every pore in his body seemed to open wide, and a terrifying, oppressive force descended. Instinctively, he threw up his arms to defend himself.
But the strength coming at him was monstrous, overwhelming.
It was as if an adult had taken on a child—Sun Wu realized his own strength was pathetically inadequate, unable to halt the other’s assault.
His arm bent back under the pressure, and in his pupils, he saw a pair of hands reaching for him, seizing him by the collar.
In the next instant, Shen An hurled Sun Wu with brutal force.
Sun Wu’s world spun, and with a heavy thud, he crashed onto the ground.
The concrete beneath him cracked with a sharp sound, a fissure opening as rainwater rushed in.
Sun Wu had barely begun to rise when the ground exploded beside him. Shen An’s footsteps landed nearby, and water splashed in all directions. The rain that had poured into the crack was sent flying into the air by the shockwave, droplets raining down on Sun Wu’s face.
Ignoring his disheveled state, Sun Wu scrambled back.
But Shen An’s hands were like vipers, striking out and coiling around his legs.
The owner of those hands smiled suddenly, then swung Sun Wu up and around.
“Shen An, I’ll kill you!” Sun Wu roared, humiliated beyond measure—especially with the elite assassins he had painstakingly trained watching from the walls.
“Attack! Kill him!” he commanded, his voice laced with fury. Even the rain shattered into a mist from the force of his words, vaporizing and dissipating into nothingness.
Shen An activated his clairvoyant sight, his senses expanding as he watched the men leap down from the wall. Suddenly, he ducked his head.
A blade sliced through the air, barely missing his nose and flying off into the distance.
It was a throwing knife.
Unperturbed, Shen An looked up, and with a powerful motion, swung Sun Wu’s body backward like a massive flail, smashing into an assassin who was charging at him.
The killer’s face twisted in pain.
Clearly, his body was no match for Sun Wu’s.
He tried to fall back, using the force of the blow.
But Shen An gave him no chance.
In a flash, Shen An appeared before him, releasing his grip on Sun Wu. His fists struck out like a barrage of cannonballs, pummeling the assassin’s chest without pause.
The man barely had time to react before being killed outright.
He collapsed, lifeless, even as the rain continued to pour, soaking his body in moments.
The entire sequence took no more than three seconds, from the man’s appearance and the thrown knife, to Shen An’s evasion, counterattack, and final blow.
The others had no time to respond before one of their own was lost.
“Everyone, attack together! He can’t possibly be this strong!” Sun Li’s face was contorted with terror.
Impossible, he told himself again and again. He can’t possibly be this powerful.
The strength Shen An displayed was far beyond anything he had anticipated.
He had already suspected Shen An was formidable, that his trump card would exceed what he’d revealed so far, but now, seeing him rampage through the ranks of his painstakingly trained assassins like a god of slaughter, Sun Li was utterly shaken.
No, this can’t go on, he realized. Shen An’s strength is extraordinary. If we delay any longer, we’re all dead.
He could see it clearly now: the killers at hand were no match for Shen An.
And his gaze drifted into the distance.
There, the shouts and cries continued.
But their numbers were dwindling. Shen An’s people were astonishingly strong as well—a force he hadn’t expected.
Their progress surprised Sun Li too.
He had no idea what methods Shen An had used, but one thing was certain: if he didn’t kill Shen An today, he would never leave alive.
Beep, beep, beep!
Sun Li slipped into a corner.
Hidden there, beneath a block of black iron, was a small device.
He pressed it quietly.
As the button engaged, the ground began to tremble.
Shen An’s brow furrowed. He sensed a terrifying power building beneath his feet.
His gaze pierced the earth, feeling the mounting force below.
His expression shifted, and in a flash, he pushed off, soaring into the air.
“Danger! Fall back!”
His voice rang out, echoing for a thousand meters in every direction.
Bai Weiwei and the others, engaged in battle, heard him and immediately retreated at speed.
They obeyed Shen An’s commands without question now.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As Mu Linqiu and the others fell back, the ground exploded.
The unleashed violence ripped through everything nearby, annihilating all in its path.
