Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Eye That Sees Through
Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Eye of Clairvoyance
He poured himself another glass of wine from the table and took a sip.
“It’s always the same. That old man just refuses to hand over his authority to me.”
“We were supposed to work together, but he just won’t appreciate my efforts. If he pushes me too far, I’ll have to break his old bones.”
Xu Tianming shook his head. “Don’t be impatient. Our plan hasn’t reached that stage yet. Taking over the family is a process—patience is key, you can’t eat hot tofu in a hurry.”
The masked man was in a foul mood. He gulped down his wine and then got up to leave.
When Shen An returned, he focused his mind and entered the inner space of his body.
His eagerness was driven by the realization that the fruits inside him had ripened.
He had thought it would take a few more days for the fruit to mature, but unexpectedly, they were ready now.
“Could it be that my inner space is more powerful than the outside world, able to alter the flow of time? Or perhaps it’s because the primordial energy here is so abundant?” Shen An mused, delighted as he saw the fruits hanging on the tree.
As he pondered these things, a series of chimes sounded in his mind.
Potential value increased by 500.
Potential value +500.
...
In a short time, his potential value had increased by twenty thousand.
Shen An listened for a while longer, but there were no further sounds.
His current potential value had reached 110,000.
To redeem the Eye of Clairvoyance required 100,000 points, and Shen An didn’t hesitate for a moment.
“Redeem the Eye of Clairvoyance.”
With a crisp sound, Shen An felt as if something new had appeared in his mind.
He quickly activated his sight, looking ahead.
Immediately, his vision pierced through the wall, seeing into the room opposite. At the same time, Shen An’s gaze fell upon a woman, invisible to the naked eye, undressing to take a bath.
“Mu Linqiu.”
Shen An suddenly felt a rush of heat to his nose.
“This is bad, the excitement is too much—I’m getting a nosebleed.”
He quickly withdrew his gaze.
The scene just now had been too stimulating. He hadn’t expected that Mu Linqiu would be bathing in the next room, and that she would be using her invisibility while bathing.
She would never imagine that Shen An could see her invisible body.
Steadying his excitement, Shen An managed to stop the nosebleed, but the alluring image lingered in his mind.
This Eye of Clairvoyance was truly outrageous.
If he wanted to look at someone, there was nothing he couldn’t see.
Shen An shook his head.
The true purpose of the Eye of Clairvoyance certainly wasn’t for this.
With that in mind, Shen An activated his sight again, this time not looking toward the other room, but out onto the street.
Suddenly, his eyes landed on a restaurant across the street.
The restaurant had private rooms, and inside one of them, Xu Tianming was sitting with a young man, drinking tea.
“That looks like the young master of the Sun family.”
“So the Sun family really is connected to Xu Tianming’s Zhicheng Pharmaceuticals.”
Shen An observed for a while longer. Before long, the Sun family’s young master got up and left.
Shen An wanted to keep watching, but suddenly felt dizzy and mentally drained. He hurriedly withdrew his clairvoyant power, finally feeling some relief.
“This Eye of Clairvoyance is indeed powerful, but it consumes too much energy,” he sighed.
After cultivating for a while, he finally recovered his spirit. With a thought, two fruits appeared in his hand.
The fruits were bright and tempting, looking fresh and delicious, their aroma filling the air.
He called for Mu Linqiu. He had just caught a glimpse of her—she had finished her bath and was reading.
Mu Linqiu knocked and entered the room.
“Boss, what is it?”
“Help me call Jiang Meng over. And while you’re at it, ask Bai Weiwei to come too.”
Mu Linqiu quickly set about contacting them.
About half an hour later, the two arrived one after the other.
“Boss, you called? I just ran into that Sun family brat. He wanted to make trouble, but Bai Weiwei blocked him,” Jiang Meng said impatiently as soon as he entered.
“We’ll talk about Sun Wu later. For now, eat this.”
As he spoke, a fruit appeared in Shen An’s hand.
Jiang Meng’s eyes lit up at the sight of the fruit, and he nearly started drooling.
Bai Weiwei was astonished; her eyes looked at Shen An in disbelief.
This was the same fruit they’d seen before. She hadn’t expected it to ripen so quickly.
Back then, Bai Weiwei hadn’t known how Shen An had made the entire fruit tree disappear. Though incredibly curious, she hadn’t asked.
“Boss, what is this?” Jiang Meng could tell at a glance that it was extraordinary.
“This is a spirit fruit, a fruit that can awaken one’s abilities,” Mu Linqiu said calmly, having recovered from her initial shock.
“Awakening!” Jiang Meng’s eyes widened like ox eyes. “You mean…like you guys?”
He looked at Shen An and the others with excitement. Seeing Shen An nod, he quickly picked up the fruit to eat it.
Suddenly, Jiang Meng paused, putting the fruit back in Shen An’s hand.
“Boss, this thing is too precious for me. I haven’t accomplished much since following you. Boss, I’m too dumb; I don’t want to drag you down. This fruit must be very important—I can’t take it.”
Shen An wondered what was going on, but when he heard Jiang Meng say this, he chuckled.
Jiang Meng might seem silly, but he was loyal and knew his place.
Shen An placed the fruit back in Jiang Meng’s hand.
“I have plenty of these fruits. Eat without worry. Also, as I said before, the matter with Sun Wu beating you is yours to settle. If you don’t eat this, how will you deal with it? Besides, things will only get busier around me. Without trusted aides, development will be difficult. You were the first to follow me—you’re my confidant. So don’t feel any burden.”
Shen An spoke with complete sincerity.
Jiang Meng had been the first to join him, and his actions today only strengthened Shen An’s resolve to help him.
Jiang Meng suddenly felt the weight of this importance. He looked up, his eyes growing more determined, and took the fruit from Shen An’s hand.
“All right, boss. I’ll eat it. From now on, I’ll follow your lead wherever you go.”
With that, he put the fruit in his mouth and swallowed—it melted instantly.
“How do you feel?” Shen An asked quickly after watching him swallow.
Jiang Meng sensed the changes in his body, his eyes rolling. “I… I don’t feel anything.”
Shen An frowned at this, and both Mu Linqiu and Bai Weiwei looked over as well.
Jiang Meng scratched his head in confusion. He really didn’t seem to feel anything.
“Try sensing any changes in your body,” Shen An prompted.
Jiang Meng silently began practicing the breathing technique Shen An had taught him.
Suddenly, a breeze rose around him.
“It worked, boss! I can feel it!” Jiang Meng leapt up from the ground, overjoyed, waving his arms and legs in excitement.
He performed a set of his signature boxing moves, the air around him whooshing loudly.
Shen An nodded in satisfaction.
“Did you gain any special abilities, like wind or fire?” Shen An asked.
Some awakened individuals would gain unique powers, while others did not.
Shen An didn’t know if eating the fruit would grant such abilities.
“I don’t know—seems like nothing,” Jiang Meng said after a while, sensing nothing unusual.
