Chapter 111: You Have No Right
Chapter 111: You Have No Qualification
In other words, practicing the Twelve-Character Seated Meditation Technique combined with proper breathing methods yields far better results.
Eagerly, Shen An sat cross-legged on the ground and methodically followed each step.
First, he activated the breathing technique, then on that foundation, silently recited the twelve-character mantra, clasped his palms together in front of his abdomen, and slowly exhaled.
After half an hour of cultivation, Shen An immediately felt the effect: the wandering primordial energy in the world tingled and surged toward him, being absorbed into his body.
Talent value +100
Talent value +100
Talent value +100
...
In just thirty minutes, his talent value had increased by a full 500 points.
He summoned the awakening panel and glanced at his attributes.
Talent “Devour” — Talent level A (1/50,000)
Talent “Space” — Talent level S (1/1,000,000)
Hidden Talent “Connect Future” — Talent level SA (1/10,000,000)
Available talent points: 100,500.
Talent Marketplace: Psychic Mind Mastery 500,000; Primordial Body Refinement Technique 1,000,000.
Not bad—although 500 talent points was a modest increase, it was better than nothing. Moreover, the talent value would continue to grow through cultivation, albeit requiring some time.
If he mastered more advanced cultivation techniques in the future, perhaps the rate of talent value increase would accelerate.
Still, no matter how fast cultivation progressed, it could never match the speed of directly devouring primordial energy.
However, it had been several days since the last primordial energy surge, and Shen An wasn’t sure when the next one would occur.
Thinking this, he sent a message to Future, asking when the next energy surge would happen.
After half a day without a reply, he guessed Future had fallen into hibernation again.
“Forget it, I’ll stop cultivating for now and attend to more important matters.”
Taking his car keys, Shen An went downstairs, retrieved his vehicle, and drove toward the residential complex where Nini lived.
He had promised to help Nini’s mother process the adoption certificate today.
Upon arriving at the complex, Nini and her mother were already waiting.
“Big Brother, good morning!” Nini’s innocent little face lit up with a broad smile upon seeing Shen An.
“Good morning, Nini.”
Shen An gently patted Nini’s head, then apologized to her mother.
“Auntie, sorry for being a few minutes late. There was some traffic on the way.”
Nini’s mother smiled warmly. “It’s alright. Nini and I just came downstairs; we haven’t been waiting long.”
Shen An opened the car doors for them and helped them inside.
“Do you have all the necessary documents and materials?” he asked.
“All gathered,” she replied.
“Great, let’s head out then.”
Shen An activated his phone’s navigation and set the destination to Silver City Orphanage, then hit the accelerator.
Because of high prices in the city center, Silver City Orphanage was located in the outskirts near the urban-rural fringe, quite a distance away.
Shen An took the highway and sped for half an hour before reaching the urban-rural boundary.
With Nini’s mother’s guidance, he quickly found the exact location of the orphanage.
“We’ve arrived. Let’s get out.”
Carrying Nini in his arms and accompanied by her mother, Shen An stepped into the orphanage.
The Silver City Orphanage covered a considerable area. Just inside the gate, he saw a huge playground and lawn where over a hundred children played joyfully, their laughter filling the air.
Nini’s mother explained that the orphanage housed over a thousand minors, the oldest no older than eighteen and the youngest merely a few months old. All were either orphans or abandoned infants with no one to care for them, taken in by the orphanage.
Due to the large population, the orphanage’s annual expenses ran into millions of yuan, a hefty sum. Though many kind-hearted donors contributed, their support was but a drop in the ocean. She heard that Director Zhao had already accumulated debts exceeding ten million yuan to keep the orphanage running.
After hearing her explanation, Shen An gained a deeper understanding of the orphanage’s hardships. Director Zhao, a rare kind-hearted man, had gone into massive debt to support these homeless children.
Looking at the innocent faces on the lawn, Shen An felt deeply moved. He thought he might be able to contribute a few million yuan to help the orphanage overcome its difficulties.
As chairman of Future Group, a company worth over a billion, Shen An could afford such a sum.
He and Nini’s mother proceeded to the director’s office to assist with the adoption certificate.
As they approached the office door, shouting voices erupted from within.
“I told you, I will not sell the orphanage to Zhicheng Group. Please leave!”
“Director Zhao, if you think the price is too low, we can negotiate. How about twenty-three million? Two million plus three million more!”
“No sale!”
“Twenty-five million!”
“Director Zhao, this is our final offer. Don’t be ungrateful!”
“I said no! Even if I die, I won’t sell the orphanage to your Zhicheng Group!”
“You old fool, you refuse to give face? If you want to die, then I’ll be glad to help you!”
The shouting stopped abruptly, replaced by an intense murderous aura.
Shen An detected fluctuations of primordial energy—an awakener was present!
Without hesitation, he kicked open the wooden door and charged inside.
Inside the office, several awakeners wielding daggers had cornered an elderly man with graying hair, ready to strike. Shen An’s sudden entrance startled them.
“Who are you?”
“No matter who, since this kid wants to meddle, we’ll take care of him too.”
One of them, however, looked terrified upon seeing Shen An, trembling so badly his legs shook.
Wang Gang stammered, “You… you’re Shen An?”
Shen An cast a cold glance at Wang Gang. “You were sent by Xu Tianming, weren’t you?”
Wang Gang took a deep breath to muster courage and threatened, “You know I work for Xu Tianming, yet you dare interfere?”
“You little brat, I’m warning you—stay out of my way, or don’t blame us for killing without hesitation.”
Shen An smiled calmly. “If you think a few of you can kill me, you’re not qualified.”
“You’re asking for death!”
Humiliated and enraged, Wang Gang seethed. The adoption was about to be finalized, and Shen An had just ruined his plans. If this fell through, Xu Tianming would never forgive him. With no way out, he might as well fight to the death.
“Brothers, attack! Kill Shen An!”
Wang Gang brandished his dagger and led the awakeners in a charge.
Shen An opened his Devour Space, drew out his black iron sword, and faced them head-on.
The five or six awakeners, none even reaching early second rank, were mere appetizers before him.
Wang Gang struck first, his sharp dagger aimed at Shen An’s neck, targeting a vital point.
Shen An reacted swiftly, dodging the blade. He then kicked off the table, executed a backflip, and landed behind Wang Gang.
By the time Wang Gang realized, it was too late. The black iron sword, radiating killing intent, descended upon the back of his head.
