Chapter 78: A Forceful Intervention
Chapter Seventy-Eight: Forceful Intervention
Shen An strode straight toward the office. Without a hint of hesitation, he kicked the door open with a bang.
“Who are you? Don’t you know how to knock?” The manager glared angrily.
But the moment he caught sight of Shen An, his expression changed dramatically.
“Sh-Shen… President Shen…” His knees trembled in terror.
What was happening? President Shen had returned, and no one had informed him?
“Where’s Liu Jin?” Shen An asked.
“Director Liu… I—I don’t know anyone named Liu Jin,” the manager stammered, his eyes darting around, clearly scheming.
Beneath the desk, his hand suddenly pressed a red button.
Shen An smiled, “Who did you notify?”
“What…” The manager hurriedly withdrew his hand.
Shen An stepped forward, approaching the desk. The manager retreated, his face fluctuating between fear and uncertainty, unable to meet Shen An’s gaze, his eyes flicking nervously toward the desk.
With a smile, Shen An reached underneath and retrieved the red button.
The manager was mortified.
“Will they arrive in five minutes?” Shen An asked, holding the button.
“I—I don’t know,” the manager replied, now utterly terrified.
It was an emergency button meant for his bodyguards. Yet Shen An seemed to have anticipated his every move. Even after discovering he’d called for help, Shen An remained calm, unruffled.
A minute later, Shen An looked outside.
“They’re quick,” he remarked with a smile.
The manager’s face turned ashen.
A shadow darted into the room. The manager’s hope surged—an Awakened had arrived; he felt salvation was at hand.
Suddenly, Shen An vanished from his spot. In the next instant, the shadow was sent flying, smashing into the wall and landing on the other side, his fate uncertain.
The manager’s eyes widened as Shen An approached.
“So this is who you called?” Shen An’s gaze bore into him. “You know who I’m asking about. Where is Liu Jin?”
“He just left, with some new recruits.”
“Hm?” A sudden chill ran through Shen An’s heart.
At that moment, a woman was dragged out by several people.
“Let me go! I’m calling the police! How can you treat us like this? They’re just new employees—why are you doing this to them?” she cried.
Shen An looked over and saw she was from the finance department, being forcibly taken.
“Hey, let her go! Who gave you permission to do this?” Shen An demanded.
One of the security guards glanced at him and his face changed instantly.
“Pr—President Shen…” He was one of the few who had met Shen An before.
“President Shen, thank goodness! Please help them—the new recruits are in danger!” Section Chief Wang Yao rushed over, disregarding everything else.
Shen An quickly supported her. “What happened?”
An old employee warned, “Wang Yao, do you want to lose your job?”
No sooner had he spoken than Shen An’s palm landed on his face.
A sharp slap knocked out the man’s teeth.
Everyone present gasped, even Wang Yao was stunned.
“It’s alright. Continue,” Shen An said, his face stern but his voice gentle.
Upon hearing Wang Yao’s account, Shen An was consumed with fury.
He hadn’t imagined Liu Jin would dare act so brazenly.
Dinner.
With several beautiful, young female employees.
Impossible!
Based on her description, it was far more sinister than a simple meal.
Moreover, one of the girls was named He Zhouzhou—a name Shen An knew all too well.
Without asking further, Shen An activated his clairvoyant vision to search.
Within moments, he pinpointed their location.
They hadn’t gone far, but now He Zhouzhou and the others were in real danger.
“Drink. If you don’t, you’re disrespecting me,” Liu Jin’s voice echoed from a private room.
Inside, Liu Jin was nothing like his corporate persona—he was arrogant and domineering. Beside him stood a skilled fighter.
Earlier, a girl refused to drink and was beaten to the ground, her cheek swollen. No one dared speak for her.
He Zhouzhou and her companions were desperate.
“Come on, yes, that’s right, let’s all enjoy ourselves. You’re new, but with my word, promotions and raises are just a matter of time. As long as I’m happy, everyone’s happy, right?” Liu Jin said, still oblivious to his impending doom.
He Zhouzhou and the others kept drinking to placate him.
What they didn’t realize was that, as Liu Jin urged them to drink, something had been slipped into their glasses—a small pill that dissolved instantly and vanished without a trace.
Soon, the girls felt dizzy and lightheaded.
Minutes passed, and Liu Jin’s face was filled with satisfaction.
“Let’s go. The rooms are ready,” someone said.
Liu Jin nodded with a smile.
Suddenly, a man appeared at the doorway, standing there, watching.
“Who are you?” Liu Jin didn’t recognize Shen An.
But the man beside Liu Jin sensed something was wrong. The moment he looked at Shen An, Shen An’s figure blurred.
His expression shifted, and he reacted instantly.
In a blink, Shen An was right in front of him.
He struck.
The man quickly raised his hands to attack, but Shen An blocked them effortlessly. The attacker kicked, but Shen An outpaced him, kicking back and sending his leg aside.
He tried punching, but Shen An countered. With a scream, the man withdrew his fists and retreated, glaring at Shen An.
His gaze shifted from Shen An to the terrified Liu Jin nearby.
“That’s Shen An! Run! Warn the others!” he shouted.
Liu Jin, panic-stricken, turned and fled.
He’d read Shen An’s file.
An Awakened, and a powerful one—third tier. He wasn’t sure exactly what that meant.
But he’d heard that, within the company, only one person had reached third tier.
If that were true, then only one among them could rival Shen An’s power.
With that kind of threat, how could he dare provoke him?
Seeing Liu Jin flee, Shen An spotted a stone on the floor—a fragment from the earlier fight that had broken the wall.
He kicked it.
The stone shot out like a bullet, piercing through the door and striking Liu Jin’s leg.
A scream rang out.
Liu Jin turned back, blood streaming from the gaping wound in his leg.
The girls lay sprawled across the table, unconscious, unnoticed.
Just then, Wang Yao rushed in.
Shen An glanced at her.
Wang Yao saw the unconscious women and was at a loss.
“Take them out first,” Shen An instructed.
Wang Yao looked at the group, thinking, How can I manage this alone?
But Shen An paid her no mind. He pressed his hand against Liu Jin’s face, slammed him into the wall, and dragged him out.
Helpless, Wang Yao began making phone calls.
Fortunately, she still had some friends to call upon.
