Chapter 118: Too Afraid to Intervene
Chapter 118: Daring Not to Intervene
The man wearing the demon mask revealed a grimacing smile to Nini’s mother, then grabbed her roughly, snarling, “No one will save you now. This is the Dark Division branch—you’re as good as dead.”
“Who says no one can rescue her?” At that moment, a figure appeared—it was none other than Shen An.
In his hand, Shen An carried the corpse of a Dark Division member, looking like a grim reaper risen from the depths of hell.
A black iron sword was plunged into the body of the Dark Division member. Shen An slowly withdrew the sword, which dripped with fresh blood, exuding an eerie aura.
“The next one to die will be you.” The bloodied black iron sword in Shen An’s hand sent chills down the spines of the Dark Division members.
One by one, they stared at Shen An with terror. They had never encountered such an awakened warrior before; this man was likely of the third rank.
“He must be at least early third rank. Everyone be careful.”
“We can’t even withstand a single strike from him. Damn it! I’m mid-second rank, yet just one blow from him shattered my arm. This man is terrifying.”
“If I hadn’t dodged quickly, I would’ve been the next corpse just now.”
The awakened fighters regarded Shen An warily, as though facing some monstrous beast.
Shen An looked ahead. Nini had already fainted, and her mother was still being held tightly by the demon-masked man, who showed no intention of releasing her.
“Shen An, you finally came? Save Nini quickly and don’t worry about me,” Nini’s mother called out.
Shen An smiled softly. “Since I’m here, I will save both you and Nini. Neither of you will stay here.”
Nini’s mother felt deeply moved—Shen An was willing to confront these powerful men for their sake, something she had never dared to imagine.
The demon-masked man sneered coldly and gripped her neck. Nini’s mother was an ordinary person; how could she withstand the control of an awakened warrior?
With just a slight twist from this man, he could easily kill her. There was no doubt about it.
“Do I need to say it again? Release her, or you will die miserably,” Shen An warned coldly.
With the black iron sword in hand, it would take only a second or two for him to kill the man.
“Hahaha, this stinking woman is in my hands now. If you dare take one step, I’ll crush her to death, and you’ll never see her again. Put down that sword now, or I kill this woman,” the demon-masked man growled ominously.
He clearly understood Shen An’s strength was formidable and not to be taken lightly.
“You are too careless. I’m not like your previous opponents,” Shen An said quietly, suddenly appearing behind the demon-masked man.
With one thrust, the sword pierced the man’s body. Blood poured from him, quickly staining the blade crimson.
Pulling out the black iron sword, Shen An kicked the demon-masked man to the ground and paid no further attention to him.
“Auntie, are you alright?” Shen An asked, relieved to see that Nini’s mother was only slightly injured.
Surviving among these Dark Division members was already something to be grateful for.
“By the way, what about Nini... she seems to have fainted, right?” Shen An’s concern showed in his eyes, as if he were protecting his own daughter.
“They knocked Nini unconscious. They’re ruthless people. Thank you for avenging me,” Nini’s mother said, knowing that if Shen An had arrived any later, both she and Nini would have perished.
She bore no grudge against the Dark Division, yet they sought to harm her.
Shen An approached Nini and cradled her in his arms. Despite her dirty and disheveled face, she looked incredibly adorable.
For those Dark Division members to harm such a young girl so severely—truly they were beasts.
Gently, Shen An smoothed Nini’s hair. Her injuries were not severe; fortunately, the Dark Division had not dealt a fatal blow.
They must have intended to lure him out. Before his arrival, they probably would not have dared harm Nini and her mother.
“Auntie, Nini is alright,” Shen An reassured her.
“Nini, it’s such a relief you’re okay. I was so scared I’d never see you again. You know how worried your mother was,” Nini’s mother said, her gaze filled with love.
“Don’t be too upset, Auntie. I’ve taken care of your enemies,” Shen An said.
“Thank you, Shen An. If it weren’t for you, we would have died here today,” Nini’s mother expressed gratefully.
She sighed and glanced around. The towering alloy walls surrounding them formed a place not easily escaped.
When she was brought here, her eyes were blindfolded. Even if she wanted to retrace her steps, it would be extremely difficult.
Holding Nini close, she asked anxiously, “What should we do now?”
“I’ll take you back first,” Shen An replied.
“All right.”
Shen An led the way, with Nini’s mother carrying Nini behind him. They passed under the watchful eyes of the Dark Division awakened fighters—no one dared to stop them.
Such was the power of a true strongman’s presence.
“Not going to stop him? Just let him kill our boss and leave so easily?” one Dark Division member grumbled.
“This guy is terrifying—probably early third rank. Didn’t you see how our leader couldn’t even last a single round before he died? Charging him now is just suicide.”
“Damn it, we can only watch him leave.”
“We can’t afford to offend a man like him; if we do, it’s death for us.”
Shen An paid no mind to the whispers behind him.
Curious, Nini’s mother asked, “Shen An, why is everyone so afraid of you?”
Since meeting Shen An, she sensed a mysterious aura about him, as if no one could match his strength.
Shen An smiled faintly. “They’re not afraid of me—they’re afraid of the sword I wield.”
After escorting Nini’s mother out of the Dark Division branch, he let her return on her own.
Now, with the major factions of Silver City emerging, Shen An felt uneasy. He had to grow stronger quickly.
Silver City Martial Arts Hall—established after the revival of spiritual energy, this place offered training grounds and various equipment for awakened warriors.
Moreover, it was free for those ranked second and above to encourage more people to awaken.
Shen An stepped into the Silver City Martial Arts Hall.
