At some point while the chaos unfolded, One-Eye seized the opportunity. Taking advantage of Qin Mu’s distraction, he crept stealthily toward Jiang Zheng.

Qin Mu’s kick just moments ago had been truly terrifying; it had shattered his spine with ease, rendering the protective inner energy he had cultivated for over a decade completely useless. Yet, regardless of the severity of his injuries, One-Eye was still a martial artist at the peak of inner energy. He seized the defenseless Jiang Zheng in an instant.

Now, clutching a razor blade tightly in his hand, One-Eye pressed it firmly against Jiang Zheng’s throat. A mere fraction of an inch more, and it would have pierced that unshielded skin. This seemed to be his final straw of salvation.

Qin Mu, however, had already bared his murderous intent. He remained calm and composed, making no further move to strike, waiting instead to see what One-Eye would do next. Seeing that Qin Mu dared not continue his assault, One-Eye felt a surge of secret triumph. In terms of martial arts, this young man was indeed invincible, having swept through their group of formidable fighters without the slightest effort.

But he had a weakness!

"Brother, don't worry about me!" Jiang Zheng struggled, but One-Eye held her fast.

"Don't be afraid," Qin Mu said, his voice soothing.

"Afraid? Hahahaha! If I’m not happy, all it takes is a little tremor of my hand, and her life will end right here!" One-Eye laughed arrogantly. "Weren't you so invincible just a moment ago? Why are you acting like a quail now, not even daring to move, eh?!"

One-Eye ranted, venting his frustration while waving the razor blade recklessly. Several times, he nearly sliced Jiang Zheng. Qin Mu offered no reaction, his eyes fixed steadily on One-Eye. The coldness in that gaze made One-Eye shudder, and his shouting gradually died down.

He had Jiang Zheng, which was enough to hold Qin Mu at bay, but to survive, he had to escape! One-Eye frantically scanned his surroundings, but his men were either dead or had fled in total disarray; there was no chance of them returning to help. Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he spotted a figure.

"Madman Meng, what are you standing there for? Get over here!" he barked. "I will report your cowardice in refusing to fight to Young Master Jiang word for word!"

For reasons unknown, when everyone else had swarmed Qin Mu, Madman Meng had kept his distance, refusing to join the fray.

"I’m giving you a chance to make up for it—get over here and help me leave!" One-Eye commanded.

Madman Meng moved at the command, approaching One-Eye, but he suddenly stopped. Beneath his disheveled hair, his sharp eyes darted toward Qin Mu, and he asked a seemingly absurd question: "Is she your sister?"

"She is," Qin Mu nodded.

Madman Meng’s expression shifted, his voice trembling slightly as he asked, "Would you really go as far as to slaughter these Jiang family warriors and offend the entire Jiang family just for her?"

Qin Mu shook his head with indifference. "Compared to my Jiang girl, what does it matter if the Jiang family is wiped out?"

Upon hearing this, the dimness in Madman Meng’s eyes vanished, replaced by a sudden brilliance. The despondency on his face was swept away. Facing Qin Mu, he uttered words that stunned everyone present: "In that case, please accept me—I want to be your subordinate!"

For a fleeting moment, even the fleeing warriors stopped in their tracks, staring at Madman Meng in disbelief. He, a ruthless assassin from the Dark Net, was actually bowing his head to this young man?

Madman Meng’s tone was sincere, yet neither servile nor overbearing. "But please remember, I do not submit to you because I fear your martial arts, but because I admire your character."

A flash of surprise crossed Qin Mu’s face. He stared at Madman Meng for a long time before holding up a finger and speaking leisurely.

"I have two requirements for those I take in."

"First, I do not accept cowards."

Every soldier Qin Mu had ever led was fierce and indomitable; even when facing an impossible battlefield, they had never retreated a single step. Upon hearing this, Madman Meng straightened his back. He did not retreat, and his silence was a response stronger than any words.

Qin Mu observed him and raised a second finger. "Second, I do not accept those with a twisted sense of right and wrong."

The deeper meaning behind these words was lost on ordinary people, but to Madman Meng, it was perfectly clear.

"I understand," Madman Meng replied. He turned sharply, and the wine bottle in his hand smashed down!

*Bang!*

The glass bottle shattered against the back of One-Eye's head, the debris expertly avoiding injury to Jiang Zheng. In the blink of an eye, Madman Meng snatched a shard from the air and slashed it across.

Fast, accurate, and ruthless!

It was the hallmark of a professional assassin. One-Eye’s eyes widened in shock. He raised his hands slowly to his neck, only to feel them covered in blood. Madman Meng’s strike had slit his throat.

One-Eye gasped for air, looking at Madman Meng with utter bewilderment, as if to ask: *You are only at the Great Perfection stage of inner energy, how dare you strike at a peak master like me?*

"Always having an ace up one's sleeve is a basic skill for an assassin," Madman Meng said coldly.

One-Eye’s face turned deathly pale. Madman Meng, like him, was a martial artist at the peak of inner energy! His previous display of Great Perfection was merely a deception.

"Oh, and I forgot to tell you," Madman Meng said, looking at Qin Mu. "Not long ago, while I was at my peak, I faced him head-on, and he kicked me straight through a building."

To lose to such a powerhouse was no disgrace. But with this bombshell dropped, One-Eye could only choke, his blood pooling in his throat, unable to even cough it out. If Madman Meng had spoken sooner, they wouldn't have been foolish enough to rush to their deaths.

"Doing such vile deeds for a vile family," Qin Mu remarked. "Your death is not unjust."
