Chapter Eighty-Three: I Don't Mind Breaking My Vow!
Jiang City, New Year's Eve.
Lights blazed brilliantly as families gathered in reunion. Yet, beneath the city, in a secret underground location, there was a space spanning several thousand square meters. Its luxurious décor and layout rivaled that of a top-tier hotel. Tables and chairs carved from the finest woods filled the place, making it resemble a city that never slept.
This was the Black Web, known as Jiang City's underworld, a lawless domain.
For those who sat here were all hardened criminals, each with tens or even hundreds of lives on their conscience.
Inside a lavish private room, Han Ziyu held a glass of scarlet wine, a seductive woman perched in his lap, exuding utter contentment.
Across from him lounged a burly man, arms draped around two women, indulging himself just as Han Ziyu did.
"Brother Han, your scheme is truly flawless," the burly man praised. "You had our Black Web people secretly take photos early on, released the news, and then had the photographer admit that Luoshui hired him. Now, even if she jumped into the Yellow River, she couldn't wash herself clean."
"Of course, I couldn't have done it without your help, Brother Xiong," Han Ziyu replied, discreetly passing a check to the man.
"No need for such courtesy," Brother Xiong replied, taking the check without a flicker of expression and laughing heartily. "From now on, Luoshui is your woman."
"Don't forget your brothers once you've had your fun. That enchanting body of hers—I've dreamt of her every night!" some of the men nearby smirked lasciviously.
"Don't worry! That cheap slut acts all pure and aloof, but after a few days of discipline, she'll be eager to please beneath me," Han Ziyu said with brazen arrogance, a far cry from the idol persona he presented on screen.
Now, the company, the fans, the public—everyone believed he and Luoshui were lovers.
Tomorrow, at the press conference, it would be officially announced to all of Jiang City: Luoshui was Han Ziyu's woman.
By then, as her boyfriend, he'd have the final say in how to treat her. If that Qin dared to intervene, it would only publicize to the whole city that the supposedly chaste and virtuous Luoshui was actually a loose woman, open to all comers.
Knowing how much Luoshui valued her reputation, she would never allow Qin to act on her behalf.
"Any news from Sister Tao?" Han Ziyu asked.
He still had no idea how Luoshui had been rescued. By the time he was informed, she was already strolling hand in hand with Qin Mu in Yan Gui Garden.
"I've used all of Black Web's contacts to investigate. Rumor has it she was found by a passing military unit and taken away," Brother Xiong replied, his tone now solemn.
"There won’t be any leaks, will there?" Han Ziyu grew uneasy at the mention of the military. After all, no matter how powerful Black Web was, they dared not cross the army.
"Rest assured, our people are all highly trained and tight-lipped. Even with a gun to their heads, they wouldn't say a word," Brother Xiong vowed, patting his chest.
Han Ziyu nodded, reassured by the Black Web’s capabilities.
He owed much of his current status to the Black Web, having used them to eliminate countless obstacles in his path.
The group raised their glasses and drank merrily. Brother Xiong summoned several more women, and the room soon descended into debauchery.
As midnight approached and Han Ziyu grew tipsy, he glanced at his phone and frowned.
"Why haven’t the hitmen I sent out returned yet?"
Han Ziyu was ruthless—having won Luoshui, he had no intention of letting that wretch Qin Mu, who had repeatedly crossed him, off so easily.
He had hired thirty Black Web thugs to break Qin Mu’s arms and legs.
He wanted this upstart to understand who was truly worthy of Luoshui.
"They’ve probably dealt with him and are out celebrating," Brother Xiong replied indifferently.
Emboldened by drink, Han Ziyu dismissed the matter and turned his attention back to the woman in his arms.
A few minutes later, a knock sounded at the door.
"Who is it?" one of the lackeys, bottle in hand, went to open the door.
A towering man stood in the doorway.
Brother Xiong sized up the newcomer. "Here to join Black Web? It’s New Year’s Eve—no recruitment today. Better head home."
The stranger's presence was formidable, surpassing most killers Brother Xiong had ever seen; even among the elite of the underworld, he would be top-tier.
If it weren’t for the holiday, Brother Xiong would have taken him straight to registration.
But the man ignored them all, crossing the room to Han Ziyu and tossing a burlap sack into his lap.
"My master asked me to deliver something in return," the man said.
"What?" Han Ziyu, irritated by the man's rudeness, barely had time to question him before the stranger turned and strode away.
"That hurt!" the woman rubbed her shoulder.
"Probably some big shot wanting to curry favor with Brother Han. It’s heavy—could be an antique or treasure. Bit rough, though. What if it’s broken?" Brother Xiong mused.
"Perhaps," Han Ziyu replied, shaking his head and casually unzipping the sack.
As the zipper slid open, the woman eagerly leaned in to see what treasure lay within.
One glance was all it took—she collapsed backward, her body stiff with terror.
