Chapter 57: Tell Him to Come Collect Your Corpse!
“Damn it, who the hell played that? Turn it off, now!”
What appeared on the screen was not the anticipated compromising photo of Jiang Zheng, but rather a short video.
The star of the video was none other than Xiao Huang himself.
The backdrop was a garish nightclub bathed in neon lights, where Xiao Huang was drinking and cavorting with several hostesses. Drunk out of his mind, he pulled off his own trousers and put them over his head, blindly chasing the hostesses in a ridiculous game of tag—a scene so foolish he came off as an absolute idiot.
Xiao Huang’s face turned the color of raw liver as he watched.
“Turn it off, now! Are you looking to die?!”
He raged at his secretary, shouting for the video to be stopped.
But the secretary, sweating profusely, tried several commands to no avail. “It won’t turn off! The encrypted file is laced with a virus—the whole computer is locked down!”
The screen kept looping Xiao Huang’s most humiliating moments.
Even those who’d come with Xiao Huang, not just Lin Qingxue’s people, couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
“Anyone who laughs again is dead!”
Xiao Huang roared, his dignity in tatters. With no other recourse, he stormed forward and forcibly yanked out the computer’s power cord.
Only then did the screen finally go black.
“Damn it, is Gao Sheng out of his mind?!”
Furious, Xiao Huang grabbed his phone to call, but Gao Sheng’s phone had already been shut off, and he was nowhere to be found.
Lin Qingxue’s gaze drifted unconsciously to Qin Mu, who was seated in the corner among the odd-job staff.
Qin Mu sat with his eyes closed, utterly unbothered by the scene—as if he had expected it all along.
Of course, it made sense. When it came to his sister, Jiang Zheng, how could Qin Mu not intervene?
Yet Lin Qingxue hadn’t imagined Qin Mu would engineer such a ploy, exposing the arrogant Xiao Huang to utter disgrace.
She cleared her throat, straightened her appearance, and said, “Regardless, trying to acquire a 51% stake in YaZi for just fifty million is out of the question.”
“If that’s truly what you’re offering, Director Xiao, then you might as well leave. As for raw materials, we’ll look for partners outside Jiang City.”
After her speech, Xiao Huang finally managed to regain his composure and retake his seat, though his eyes flashed with menace.
Now that he’d calmed down, he could more or less guess Lin Qingxue had orchestrated the scene, though he couldn’t fathom how she’d foreseen his plan so precisely.
Hmph, foolish woman. If she thinks that’s all I have, she’s sorely mistaken!
“Partners outside Jiang City? Aren’t you underestimating the Xiao family?”
Once again, Xiao Huang adopted his lofty, overbearing manner.
“Do you think the Xiao family has held the fourth seat in the Jiang League for twenty years by accident?”
“We’ve monopolized the entire pharmaceutical market in Jiang City. The surrounding provinces’ pharmaceutical industries are all subsidiaries of ours. If I say no one will sell to you, then no one will dare cooperate with you!”
“To be blunt, without the Xiao family, your Lin family couldn’t take flight even if you grew wings! You’ll be stuck groveling in the mud for another twenty years, just as before!”
After the earlier fiasco, Xiao Huang couldn’t be bothered to keep up pretenses; he laid his cards out plainly for Lin Qingxue to see.
“What’s more, I possess several documents proving your violations of the Jiang League’s directives—along with evidence that your family aided that wretched woman back then.”
At this, Lin Qingxue’s face went blank with shock.
“What are you talking about?!” she demanded, her heart pounding in panic.
Xiao Huang let out a triumphant laugh. Nothing pleased him more than seeing Lin Qingxue lose her composure.
“Everyone in Jiang City thinks your family merely spoke a few words for that fallen woman.”
“But I know you tried to transfer a huge sum to her, hoping to help her through her crisis.”
“As it happens, I have the transfer record right here.”
Xiao Huang took a document from his secretary and waved it in front of Lin Qingxue with a smug flourish.
Lin Qingxue stared in disbelief at the paper in Xiao Huang’s hand.
How could he have gotten hold of this?
Twenty years ago, the Lin family had been closely connected to that stunning woman. So when disaster struck, they tried to quietly gather all their resources to help her.
But for some reason, the money never reached her—even when she was ruined, shamed, and finally leapt to her death.
Under pressure from the Jiang League, the Lin family had destroyed all evidence.
And yet, here it was again, in Xiao Huang’s hands.
Clearly, Xiao Huang had gone to great lengths to devour the Lin family today.
“What do you think would happen if I handed this over to the Jiang League’s families?”
Lin Qingxue was stunned into silence.
The entire Jiang League loathed that woman. For saying just a few words in her defense, the Lin family had been suppressed for twenty years.
If this transfer record were made public, within three days her company would be doomed, and the Lin family erased from Jiang City’s history.
“I trust you’re wise enough to make the right choice,” Xiao Huang sneered at Lin Qingxue. “And with our Xiao family’s status, acquiring YaZi Beauty and forging a marriage alliance with your Lin family would only be fitting.”
“You—!” Lin Qingxue was left speechless with fury.
