Chapter 103: Hanging on the Car Door
As Tian Li had predicted, the motorcycles from the Che Chi gang didn’t actually hit them. Just as they were about to brush against their bodies, the riders would exaggeratedly twist their torsos, forcing their bikes to narrowly scrape past them.
Then they would speed off, turn around, and come back again, repeating the same maneuver, essentially circling around the two of them nonstop.
One rider even took advantage of Wang Ming’s distraction to slam his helmet hard onto Wang Ming’s head, leaving him momentarily disoriented and utterly embarrassed.
Tian Li was accustomed to their tactics; she had played the same game with others before. So even though the motorcycles whizzed by one after another at high speed, she didn’t even blink.
Seeing the helmet on Wang Ming’s head, she grabbed it and yanked it off, then gave his head a sharp pat, scolding him: “Can you stand up straight? The more panicked you are, the more they get fired up. Stand there and don’t move—act like a man!”
“All right!” Wang Ming responded, his impulsive nature flaring up again.
He raised the steel pipe, aiming at the nearest motorcycle, ready to strike.
But before he could swing, Tian Li forcibly held him back.
She glared at him and said, “Tian Ge’s not here. Are you confident you can take on these thirty-plus people on ten or so bikes?”
“No…” Wang Ming’s expression darkened.
“Then why do you want to hit them?” Tian Li retorted.
“Fine.” Wang Ming sighed in resignation, planting the steel pipe firmly on the ground, no longer dodging left and right.
Che Peiqing was intimidating Wang Ming, showing off and having fun, but after a few reprimands from Tian Li, Wang Ming stopped darting around like a monkey.
“Damn it, this is boring!” Che Peiqing cursed under his breath, his enthusiasm waning.
Though they rode motorcycles and charged at people, none of them truly had the courage to hit someone. They purely enjoyed scaring others.
Now that Tian Li couldn’t be intimidated—nor could the weakling beside her—the gang immediately lost interest.
After a few more minutes of this, Che Peiqing slid his bike to the side and stopped.
“Tian Li, is this weakling your man?” he arrogantly pointed at Wang Ming.
“Tian Li, are you blind?” another sneered.
“Tian Li, you’re not seriously sticking with such a loser, are you?”
The other bikers, seeing their leader halt, also swerved to a stop.
They all looked at Wang Ming with disdain, one after another hurling taunts.
“He’s just one of our guys, not my man!” Tian Li snapped back.
“Listen here, Che family: my man could pin you to the ground and rub you raw eighty-one times! You believe that?” Seeing all their bikes had come to a halt, Tian Li refused to yield except in front of Hua Tianyu.
“Oh wow, our little Lily’s got some backbone now?” Che Peiqing mocked sarcastically.
“Get lost! You think you can call me ‘little Lily’? Win the race first, then you can try calling me that. If you lose, I’ll call you Little Qingqing!” When it came to trash talk, Tian Li never feared anyone.
“You’re really full of yourself, huh?” Che Peiqing reached into his pocket and pulled out a glossy red challenge letter, slamming it down in front of Tian Li with a snap.
“Tomorrow night, Central First Street. If you don’t show, you’re a son of a bitch!”
Having said that, Che Peiqing twisted the throttle, and with a roar from the motorcycle, he and the girl behind him sped off without looking back.
“Not showing up means you’re a son of a bitch!”
The rest of the Che Chi gang laughed arrogantly, echoing their leader’s words before revving their engines to the limit and quickly disappearing from Tian Li’s sight.
“Phew!” Tian Li exhaled heavily, picking up the challenge letter.
Finally, they were gone. Tian Li knew Che Peiqing wasn’t completely lawless, but facing thirty of them was truly daunting.
Besides, she was aware that although Che Peiqing had some limits, several of his men had none.
Fortunately, they hadn’t provoked them earlier, or Tian Li would have been in serious trouble.
“Let’s go back,” Tian Li said to the still-recovering Wang Ming, who nodded silently and walked back into the bar.
Tian Li pulled out her phone and started messaging Hua Tianyu on WeChat.
“Brother Tian, help me race tomorrow night, as promised.”
“Okay, got it. Time and place?”
“Tomorrow night at 11 p.m., Central First Street.”
“Central First Street? I remember there are lots of small alleys there. Suitable for racing?”
“It’s motorcycles! Even the smallest roads are fine!”
At Swan Tower, Hua Tianyu sighed deeply while holding his phone, then typed a few words.
“When you get back, I’m going to straighten out your tongue and fix that Taiwanese accent! Do you know that accent can get you killed?”
“Brother Tian, I was wrong!”
“Where’s the motorcycle?”
“When I played with Che Chi before, there was one parked behind the Starry Bar. I’ll bring it back today so you can get familiar.”
“Understood.”
Wang Hong watched Hua Tianyu put down his phone and asked with concern, “You sighed—what’s wrong?”
Hua Tianyu smiled and shook his head, “Nothing, just a small matter with a friend tomorrow night.”
“Mm,” Wang Hong nodded obediently. “Then congratulations! President Wei personally signed a commendation order for you, recognizing your key role in securing a 400-million project for the group!”
Though Wei Xueying verbally stated there was only one chance to receive a reward and that Hua Tianyu had to accept it before it expired, her character was one of gratitude and recognition. She never forgot those who contributed to the company.
This was evident from her efforts to prevent layoffs by considering transferring the whole company during its toughest times.
So after Hua Tianyu left her office, she still signed the president’s order to commend him and instructed Human Resources to announce it company-wide.
Now, Wang Hong was holding the commendation order given to her by Liang Hui, eyes sparkling with admiration.
To Wang Hong, Hua Tianyu was practically a miracle. He was hired as a security guard, then appointed by the president on his first day.
Within a month, he became the security department manager.
And now, as manager, he had secured a 400-million project and earned a commendation directly signed by the president.
Wasn’t this man extraordinary enough?
Besides, this remarkable man was... somewhat handsome!
