Everyone halted and turned to look at the central dance floor of the bar.

But the lighting was dim, with only the overhead spotlights constantly shifting through various colors, casting everything in the center of the dance floor into an indistinct blur.

Only Hua Tianyu saw clearly the woman who had screamed.

The voice belonged to a girl with twin ponytails and a face marked by the unmistakable air of a student. She wasn’t particularly beautiful, but her S-shaped figure was striking—curves that drew the eye and left plenty to the imagination.

At this moment, the girl named Lan Juan had stopped dancing and was glaring angrily at a young man in a hip-hop shirt standing before her.

The young man, nicknamed Bun, had all his features squeezed into the center of a broad face, with the outer edges left oddly empty, resembling the folds of a steamed bun all scrunched together.

He leered at the girl unabashedly, his eyes roaming from her chest down to her hips, his hands making crude grabbing motions in her direction.

“Why did you touch me?” she demanded.

Just moments before, while Lan Juan was dancing, someone had groped her from behind. The first time, she’d thought it was an accident and said nothing. But when it happened again, the hand not only lingered but gave her a firm squeeze—so hard that even on that well-cushioned, less sensitive spot, she felt a sharp pain and couldn’t help but cry out.

She stopped dancing and spun around, only to see this lecherous man regarding her with lascivious intent, his hands still making obscene gestures.

Unable to hold back, Lan Juan loudly demanded an explanation.

Her outburst immediately drew the attention of everyone on the dance floor, who quickly stopped what they were doing.

Lin Lin and Xia Yang, too, finally saw who the parties involved were and hurried over.

This was their place. If something like this happened in their venue, they had to step in—otherwise, fewer and fewer women would come to play. And if there were fewer women, there would be fewer men. If the men stopped coming as well, the place might as well be dead. And if the place died, people like Lin Lin who relied on it for a living would lose their purpose.

Even someone as notorious as Meng Yaowu, a predator by nature, wouldn’t dare lay hands on female patrons in his own establishment.

Bun, however, seemed oblivious to Lin Lin and the others approaching. Ignoring Lan Juan’s question, he retorted, “Where did I touch you?”

“You touched my…” Lan Juan blushed. To say the word “butt” in front of so many people was too embarrassing. “You touched me from behind!”

Though she didn’t say the word outright, everyone understood her meaning. When a man is groping a woman “from behind,” what else could it be but her backside?

“And where exactly is ‘behind’?” Bun asked with another lascivious grin.

Before Lan Juan could answer, Bun stepped forward and, with a vicious twist, grabbed her buttocks again.

“Is it here?” he taunted, after the assault.

Lan Juan was stunned that he would dare do it again in front of so many witnesses. As she instinctively tried to retreat, she was too slow—he moved with intent, she moved in shock. As a result, the second assault landed squarely, the pinch sharp and painful.

Bun, triumphant, raised his hand to his nose and sniffed it, wearing an expression of utter intoxication.

“So fragrant! What perfume are you wearing, beautiful?” he asked, leering even more.

Everyone saw his actions clearly now. This was no subtle harassment—this was blatant, public molestation.

“What’s going on? Isn’t anyone going to step in?”

“Who is this guy? What a creep!” Some bolder, more righteous onlookers immediately cursed Bun, only to be tugged back by their girlfriends, who signaled them not to get involved.

“This place is out of control! We’re not coming here again!” Several frightened women were already heading for the exit, horrified that a girl could be molested openly in the club.

Hearing the commotion, Bun turned, his eyes sweeping the crowd with malice. With a sharp movement, he drew a switchblade from his waist.

With a click, the blade flashed coldly in the dim light.

“Anyone else want to mouth off? I’ll stab you!” he threatened, his voice full of menace.

Bun dared act so recklessly at Star Whisper Bar only because he had connections backing him. Otherwise, alone against at least a dozen staff, he’d be the one getting beaten into the floor in no time.

But with someone powerful behind him, he was fearless, sure that the bar was weak and undermanned, and would dare do nothing. So he brazenly drew his knife, waiting for someone from Star Whisper Bar to come and negotiate, knowing the matter would be brushed under the rug. He, Bun, wouldn’t suffer a thing—tomorrow he’d be back, dancing, flirting, and groping as he pleased.

The flash of the knife instantly silenced the crowd, and those on the outer edges began quietly making for the exits.

No one wanted to risk it now—the man had a knife, and here, he was the most dangerous.

There were plenty of clubs in the North District; if this one wasn’t safe, they could find a better place.

In the chaos, Xia Yang reached the center of the dance floor.

He had seen Bun grope Lan Juan from a distance, and arrived just as Bun pulled out the switchblade.

Before today, faced with someone like Bun, Xia Yang would have first asked about his background, to see who was supporting him. If Bun had no one backing him, he’d simply beat him up, make him apologize to the girl, and throw him out, never allowing him back. But if Bun had powerful connections, things got complicated; they’d try to resolve the matter with words, and if things escalated, any use of force would be measured to avoid future trouble.

But today, Xia Yang’s courage was different.

Wu was a big shot in the North District, right? Yet in front of their own Tian, he was meek as a lapdog, face bruised, not daring to utter a word.

And Bun? Who did he think he was, daring to grope women and wave a knife around in their place?

No one behind Bun could possibly be more formidable than Tian.

In Tian’s presence, all these people were nothing.

Tonight, Xia Yang swore, Bun would not leave Star Whisper Bar without a lesson.

“Die, scum!” Xia Yang roared, sprinted forward, and launched a flying kick straight at Bun’s back.
