Chapter 106: Not Wearing a Seatbelt, Loved Ones Shed Tears
The moment Hua Tianyu laid eyes on the Hummer, he knew that despite the enormous sum spent on its modifications, it had only become worse. Its center of gravity had been raised by over ten centimeters and shifted to one side. This Hummer was no longer the invincible king of vehicles it once was.
Hua Tianyu saw this weakness and targeted it with a fierce strike from his Jaguar during the collision.
The ridiculous Hummer driver even tried to climb onto the Jaguar’s roof, rolling back and forth, cunningly aiming his left front wheel at the Jaguar. Ironically, this very maneuver made Hua Tianyu’s strike even more effective.
With a loud “boom,” the collision ended as simply as that.
The Jaguar, upon impact with the Hummer, executed a graceful drift and escaped cleanly.
The Hummer, however, was flipped onto its side by the Jaguar’s strike.
That “boom” was not just the sound of impact but the sound of the Hummer toppling over.
Everyone around stood with their mouths agape, staring at the pink Jaguar in disbelief.
After the collision, the pink Jaguar only had a few dents on its front bumper; the rest of the car was unscathed.
This completely shattered their preconceived notions about these two vehicles.
The Jaguar was, after all, a mid-range luxury family sedan. Apart from its emblem—a leaping leopard—it hardly gave off an intimidating aura.
And what was the Hummer? A military jeep from a certain country, crowned as the king of vehicles! Whether in design or engine power, it was far beyond what a Jaguar could match.
Moreover, everyone’s eyes were sharp enough to see that this Hummer had been modified by Zhuang Wei almost to the point of becoming a tank. If it had mounted heavy weaponry on its roof, it could have gone straight into battle.
Yet now, this heavily modified Hummer was literally knocked over by that dainty pink Jaguar.
They had seen it with their own eyes. Had someone told them, they would never have believed a fully modified Hummer could be toppled by a stock Jaguar.
Wei Xueying herself couldn’t believe the outcome.
She hadn’t expected the other party to be so reckless as to ram them directly on such a narrow road with nowhere to dodge.
When she saw Hua Tianyu driving straight toward them, she kept warning him to be careful, though deep down she felt a catastrophic collision was inevitable.
Though the Jaguar would surely be totaled, she did not mind; she feared that after flipping them, the other party might do something even more insane.
Yet Hua Tianyu’s seemingly gentle collision had toppled the Hummer, and from her vantage point inside the car, she could see no real damage to their own vehicle.
Judging by the impact, Wei Xueying estimated at most the bumper was dented.
Was it coincidence, or had Hua Tianyu calculated this outcome all along?
What had he done in the military, after all? He’d once said he could even drive planes and tanks. Back then, she hadn’t believed him and even mocked him, but seeing how he could flip a Hummer with his Jaguar now, perhaps there was truth in his words.
Wei Xueying’s gaze toward Hua Tianyu brightened; he continued to surprise her more and more.
Hua Tianyu brought the Jaguar to a complete stop. The Hummer’s side fall hadn’t hit their car or any others nearby.
It was like a charging elephant suddenly crashing into an invisible cliff, falling dead on the spot, causing no harm to anything else around.
He calmly turned on the car stereo and selected a soothing piece of music, pressing play.
Despite the tense situation just moments ago, it was nothing to him, but he wanted to ease Wei Xueying’s nerves.
As the gentle notes filled the car, Hua Tianyu caught Wei Xueying’s gaze in the rearview mirror.
Such bright eyes—he thought—there’s hope!
Grinning, he teased, “Xueying, with eyes like that, you’re not falling for me, are you?”
“Hua Tianyu! I warn you, don’t talk nonsense!” Whether because he had hit upon some secret feeling she hadn’t yet understood herself, her cheeks flushed suddenly.
The relaxing music played softly in her ears, while the teasing look in Hua Tianyu’s eyes caught her attention.
Quickly, she changed the subject, not wanting to discuss this any further.
“Hua Tianyu, do you think Zhuang Wei and his driver were seriously hurt?”
“Heh, don’t worry. They’re not dying, but if they weren’t wearing seat belts, they’re in for a world of pain.”
Hua Tianyu paused thoughtfully. “A reminder from the Jiang Traffic Committee: Roads are many, safety is first. No seat belt, tears for loved ones.”
Wei Xueying was speechless.
Indeed, neither Zhuang Wei nor Wang Xingsheng had been wearing seat belts.
They had imagined the Hummer’s wide off-road tires crushing the Jaguar’s hood, smashing the windshield, then climbing onto the roof to crush their car flat.
Whether the two inside would be injured or how they would get out was not their concern. As long as they lived, the Zhuang Group could handle the aftermath.
At worst, even if the tires never reached the roof, the tungsten steel grille on the Hummer’s front was tough enough to completely wreck the Jaguar’s front end while leaving the Hummer unscathed.
But the reality stunned them.
Wang Xingsheng hadn’t even seen the Jaguar’s collision course clearly when suddenly he felt a force against the Hummer’s side.
It was not overwhelmingly strong, but extremely precise.
So precise that it destabilized the Hummer’s center of gravity, and the Hummer, propelled by its own momentum, was forcibly toppled onto the ground.
Was this the fabled art of using a small force to move a thousand pounds? Or was it the work of two cars combined?
Before Wang Xingsheng could ponder these crucial details, a tremendous pulling force dragged him and Zhuang Wei violently to the ground beside the Hummer.
With a loud “crash” followed by screams, the two were thrown onto the side of the vehicle in a strange V-shaped posture.
Both hit the ground headfirst. The frail Zhuang Wei fainted instantly, while Wang Xingsheng, already winded from a blow to his stomach, was rendered silent by the fall.
