Chapter 49: Brother Cui
With just a glance, Shi Yi and his trusted men all stood up.
“Who the hell has a problem with this?”
“Come on, then! If you’re not convinced, we’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget!”
“Let’s make sure this bitch remembers it today, so next time she’ll know exactly what it means to be put in her place!”
Shi Yi cracked his knuckles, the sound sharp in the air, then rolled his neck. Grinning menacingly, he and his group closed in on Hua Tianyu.
It wasn’t just today that Shi Yi had taken a dislike to Hua Tianyu. If Cheng Feng hadn’t held him back before, he would’ve beaten Hua Tianyu long ago. But now, his brother-in-law seemed to have finally come around, and it had been ages since the gang had stretched their muscles. This was the perfect opportunity to use Hua Tianyu as a warm-up.
“Brother Tian!” Cui Quan’s face changed as he saw Hua Tianyu surrounded by six or seven men.
He’d witnessed Hua Tianyu’s skills in the private room that day, but that was only against two opponents—today, it was several times that number. Besides, he knew these security guards well. They might seem lazy, sitting in the security office all day, but their skills were nothing to scoff at. A couple of them were even ex-soldiers, usually handling the real troublemakers for Cheng Feng. No wonder Cheng Feng called the shots in the security office.
From the looks of it, Hua Tianyu was in for a rough time.
Seeing Hua Tianyu in danger, a rush of blood surged to Cui Quan’s head. He was an honest man, but even honest men have tempers. Since he’d recognized Hua Tianyu as his big brother, he’d stand with him no matter what.
He ripped off his raincoat and strode over to Hua Tianyu’s side in a few quick steps, growling, “Let’s see who dares lay a finger on Brother Tian today! I’ll take you all on if I have to!”
Seeing Cui Quan standing beside him without a trace of fear, Hua Tianyu nodded to himself in approval. Not bad—he hadn’t misjudged Cui Quan after all.
He patted Cui Quan’s shoulder and nodded at him, then lazily turned to the seven men closing in, saying, “So, what’s your plan? Are you going to have me take on all seven of you alone, or are the two of us going to take you on together?”
“Damn! Still so cocky? You two can get beaten together!”
“Neither of you is leaving here today!”
“We’ll beat you today and again tomorrow if we have to!”
Hua Tianyu smiled and nodded, “Alright, then. The two of us will take on the seven of you.”
Then he turned to Cui Quan and asked, “Pick anyone you like—after you’ve chosen, the rest are mine.”
By now, Cui Quan’s palms were sweating with nerves, but he pointed at Shi Yi and said, “I’ll take him.”
Hua Tianyu burst out laughing. “Excellent choice—just the right size! Good for frying, braising, or stewing!”
Shi Yi was speechless.
After the laughter faded, Hua Tianyu’s demeanor changed in an instant—his presence sharpened like a drawn blade, a killing aura rising so fiercely that the room’s temperature seemed to drop several degrees. Everyone froze, as if a knife had been pressed to their throats.
With a dull thud, followed by five more in quick succession—so fast they nearly blended together—the six men who’d closed in hadn’t even reacted before each of them took a hard punch to the gut from Hua Tianyu.
Ordinarily, a punch to the stomach would hurt but not incapacitate—there’s plenty of fat there. But Hua Tianyu’s blows felt like sledgehammers, each landing with the force of a thousand pounds.
None of the six could remain standing. All were sent flying, too wracked with pain to get back up, as if their organs had been jumbled in an instant.
Hua Tianyu hadn’t even used his full strength—if he had, not one of them would have survived.
At this point, Shi Yi and Cui Quan hadn’t even moved yet.
With six blows thrown in a flash, Hua Tianyu leisurely sauntered back to Cui Quan’s side.
“Oh? You haven’t started yet?” he said, glancing at Shi Yi with feigned surprise.
Shi Yi was at a loss for words; he didn’t dare make a move now.
“Wait a minute!” Hua Tianyu suddenly pointed at Shi Yi, his voice ringing out.
Shi Yi shuddered in fright. “Don’t… don’t come any closer…”
Hua Tianyu ignored him, walked over, grabbed Shi Yi by the collar, and meticulously wiped the dust from his fist on Shi Yi’s clothes.
Then, with a slap to the back of Shi Yi’s head, he laughed. “Your turn to perform!”
Shi Yi could only turn to Cheng Feng with a pained expression. “Brother-in-law… you see…”
He’d lost all his nerve and could only look to Cheng Feng for help.
But Cheng Feng was just as frightened. He’d never seen Hua Tianyu fight, and had always assumed he was just a pushover—a former CEO’s driver, nothing more. The only reason he’d tolerated him before was his position as the CEO’s driver.
But just now, those few punches had terrified him. In the blink of an eye, six able-bodied men were down—two of them ex-soldiers.
Hua Tianyu was far more terrifying than he’d ever imagined.
Now, Cheng Feng could only use his position to pressure him.
“Hua Tianyu! Do you even know your place?” Cheng Feng’s tone was stern, but his bravado was thin.
Still, remembering he was the head of Security, he straightened his back. At Swan International, department managers had real power—they could fire people on the spot.
Hua Tianyu, I’ll fire you! Yes, I’ll fire you and kick you out of Swan International!
“My place? Why don’t you tell me?” Hua Tianyu replied with amusement.
“Your place? You’re just a lowly security guard! And I’m the head of Security! I’m firing you right now!” Cheng Feng barked.
“That’s right! Fire him!” Shi Yi suddenly snapped out of his shock. Where were they? In the Security Department! Who was Hua Tianyu? Just a guard! His brother-in-law was king here. So what if Hua Tianyu could fight? His brother-in-law could fire him!
“You’re firing me? On what grounds?” Hua Tianyu chuckled.
“On—”
“Cheng Feng! Hua Tianyu!” A clear, commanding voice rang out at the door, cutting Cheng Feng off.
The brisk click of high heels followed, and Liang Hui from Human Resources finally hurried in.
She’d just arrived at work when Director Wei called, briefly explaining the situation with the Hongwei Security meeting and instructing her to oversee the handover in Security.
Listening carefully, Liang Hui realized there was tension between Hua Tianyu and Cheng Feng, and that Director Wei wanted her, as HR manager, to mediate the transition.
From the sound of it, Cheng Feng had been seriously negligent in the security project review, and Director Wei was deeply dissatisfied with him—on the other hand, she seemed to greatly admire Hua Tianyu.
Could Hua Tianyu really be that remarkable? Liang Hui found herself growing curious about him.
