Chapter 50: The Cheerleaders
"Manager Liang." Cheng Feng saw Liang Hui arrive and hurriedly stepped forward to greet her.
Within the Security Department, Cheng Feng was the top authority, but in the Swan Group as a whole, the Security Department barely registered. The Human Resources Department, on the other hand, was at the heart of the company, and Liang Hui was naturally one of the most important mid-level leaders. Moreover, Liang Hui was ranked among the top three beauties in the Swan Group; Cheng Feng furtively licked his lips as he glanced at her voluptuous figure.
"Hello, Manager Liang!" The others also greeted her in turn.
Seeing Liang Hui, Cheng Feng felt a surge of joy. With the HR manager present, firing Hua Tianyu today would be even more justified. He was about to speak, but Liang Hui waved him off.
A single phone call from General Manager Wei had already prejudiced Liang Hui against Cheng Feng—there was clearly a serious issue with him. Now, as she entered and saw so many people lying about in the security office, she immediately understood that the conflict between Hua Tianyu and Cheng Feng had erupted.
Since the situation had come to a head, she decided to cut the Gordian knot and announce the appointment right away; perhaps the matter would be resolved once Hua Tianyu took charge.
At that moment, she felt an inexplicable trust in Hua Tianyu.
"Cheng Feng, I have a personnel appointment to announce regarding the Security Department," Liang Hui said solemnly.
"An appointment?" Cheng Feng was taken aback, then elated. "Is it the appointment of Shi Yi as Deputy Manager of the Security Department?"
A month ago, Cheng Feng had submitted a request to appoint Shi Yi to the vacant deputy manager position. Once Shi Yi was appointed, the Security Department would truly become unified under his control.
At Swan International, the appointment of a deputy manager relied heavily on the manager's recommendation, so Cheng Feng's request had at least a seventy percent chance of approval. Now that Liang Hui was here to announce a personnel appointment, it could only be Shi Yi's promotion.
He couldn’t imagine any other appointment, so he looked at Liang Hui with anticipation, waiting for her to continue.
Shi Yi’s spirits rose as well. He knew about Cheng Feng’s recommendation for him to become deputy manager. With the relationship of being Cheng Feng’s brother-in-law, Cheng Feng was the boss in the Security Department, and Shi Yi was second in command. To most people, he was already considered the deputy manager; the only thing missing was the official letter signed by the president.
Now, he had completely shaken off his earlier timidity and practically rushed forward to Liang Hui, face flushed with excitement. "Thank you! Thank you, Manager Liang!"
Hua Tianyu was amused—thanking her before the appointment was even announced? Where did these two fools get their confidence?
Liang Hui found it even more baffling, especially regarding Shi Yi. His request for the deputy manager position had long since been rejected. While the manager’s recommendation carried weight, the HR department was no mere formality; it conducted internal assessments. Shi Yi’s evaluation scores weren’t even average—how could someone like that become deputy manager? He was barely qualified to be a regular security guard.
Who gave him such confidence?
Liang Hui ignored Shi Yi and said directly to Cheng Feng, "It’s not a deputy manager appointment. It’s for the Security Department manager."
"Security Department manager?" The smile froze on Cheng Feng’s face. Wasn’t that his position? Why would it need to be appointed? Could it be…
"I now announce," Liang Hui turned to face the majority of the security staff and declared loudly, "Effective immediately, Hua Tianyu is appointed manager of the Security Department of Swan International Group, and Cheng Feng is relieved of his position as manager."
"What?" Cheng Feng’s eyes widened—his bad premonition had come true.
But—
"Hua Tianyu? Why him? What qualifications does he have?"
He couldn’t believe that Hua Tianyu would become manager. Hua had been with the group for barely a month!
With a sudden movement, he stood up and glared at Liang Hui. "I don’t believe it! You’re making this up!"
"This is the appointment letter signed by the president." Liang Hui was accustomed to such scenes; nearly a third of outgoing managers reacted like Cheng Feng. She calmly opened her folder, pulled out the official appointment letter, and handed it to Cheng Feng.
He snatched it up. Sure enough, it bore the president’s signature; sure enough, it was for the manager position; sure enough, it had Hua Tianyu’s name.
Liang Hui hadn’t said a single false word.
He even noticed that the date wasn’t today—it was signed several days ago, when he was on sick leave. Everything had been arranged in advance.
His expression grew increasingly grim, and he tried to tear up the appointment letter. Suddenly, a shadow flashed before his eyes, and Hua Tianyu had already taken the letter.
"My appointment letter," Hua Tianyu said, looking at him as if he were an idiot. "You’re holding it like a treasure. Maybe you should frame it and hang it in your house, bow to it three times a day?"
The rest of the security staff were suddenly filled with a mix of emotions, especially the six cronies of Cheng Feng who had just been floored by Hua Tianyu’s punches. Their faces looked worse than if they were crying.
"Congratulations, Manager Hua!" Someone started, and soon others chimed in, addressing Hua Tianyu as Manager Hua.
The Security Department had been turned upside down by Hua Tianyu’s hand!
"I refuse to accept this!" Cheng Feng roared, still standing in front of Liang Hui; his outburst startled her.
Hua Tianyu walked up, positioning himself between Liang Hui and Cheng Feng. "Liang Hui, you should go. Tell General Manager Wei that our handover has gone smoothly. The Security Department is calm and peaceful."
"Calm and peaceful?" Liang Hui looked at Hua Tianyu suspiciously. Cheng Feng’s demeanor was anything but calm.
"Don’t worry. When I say calm, it’s calm; when I say peaceful, it’s peaceful. As long as I, Hua Tianyu, am here, no storm or wave will ever stand—I'll smash them to pieces!"
A flash of cold light appeared in Hua Tianyu’s eyes, and the entire security office seemed to quiet down.
"Very well," Liang Hui nodded at Hua Tianyu.
She turned and left, once again choosing to trust Hua Tianyu because she believed in General Manager Wei’s judgment.
After Liang Hui exited, Hua Tianyu turned to Cheng Feng with a cheerful smile. "What did you say just now?"
"I refuse to accept this!" Cheng Feng glared back.
Hua Tianyu nodded and then asked Shi Yi, "Do you accept it?"
Shi Yi was stunned. You took my brother-in-law’s position and now ask if I accept it?
"I refuse as well!" Shi Yi declared loudly.
"No problem. Today, I specialize in curing stubborn dogs!" With that, he rolled up the sleeve of his right arm.
Shi Yi shuddered in fear, suddenly recalling how terrifying Hua Tianyu had been moments ago.
The six men had only just managed to get back on their feet—he certainly didn’t want to end up the same way.
