Doctor: “That’s the beauty of living in a society governed by law.”

Huang Jiafei: “But the real question is, are they even human?”

The doctor felt like crying. “Look, if you’re hiding from calamity, then just do it properly, all right? Why did you come to me? Are you trying to get me in trouble?”

Huang Jiafei’s temper flared. “Do you think I wanted to go to you? I just poked my head in, and you dragged me all the way inside! And then you jabbed a needle in my backside. I haven’t even settled the score with you yet, but now you’re the one upset?”

The more Huang Jiafei spoke, the angrier he became. He sat up and stared directly at the doctor. The doctor’s spirit deflated; he slumped down beside Huang Jiafei.

Doctor: “I was just speaking offhand, you know. Look at you, getting all worked up. Come on, let me massage you.”

Huang Jiafei pushed the doctor’s hand away with his arm.

Annoyed, he said, “Enough, enough. The medicine’s worn off.”

It was an awkward scene, and no one could figure out how things had become so absurd.

Huang Jiafei: “Actually, if you really want to get out, it’s not impossible.”

The doctor perked up immediately at those words. He lifted his head and stared intently at Huang Jiafei, who reached out his hand.

Huang Jiafei: “First, untie the rope for me.”

The doctor didn’t move, staring at Huang Jiafei in confusion.

Huang Jiafei: “At least let me free my hands. Leave the rest to me. Did you bring scissors?”

Doctor: “Brother, my underwear was nearly torn off—scissors, really?”

But as the doctor searched his pockets, he suddenly realized he still had his phone! The two—well, one man and one demon—glanced at each other. The doctor immediately smashed the phone, shattering the glass. Using a shard, he painstakingly cut through the rope binding Huang Jiafei’s hands.

Once freed, Huang Jiafei carefully pried open the cell door. He stuck his head out to take a look, then led the doctor down the corridor to escape. Near the main entrance, the doctor stopped him.

Doctor whispered, “Brother, there will definitely be guards at the main gate. Let’s go that way instead.”

He pointed in another direction as he spoke.

Huang Jiafei nodded. “You’re sharp, little brother. Let’s go.”

Huang Jiafei led the way while the doctor kept watch behind. When they reached a ventilation window, Huang Jiafei climbed up and removed the fan.

He turned to the doctor and said, “Good work, little brother. Smart and capable.”

Doctor: “Ah, it’s nothing, really.”

Huang Jiafei: “Brother Cat has been around for years. Roaming the world—whatever trouble you find yourself in after we get out, just look for Brother Cat. I’ll always come through.”

Just as Huang Jiafei was about to leave, the doctor grabbed him.

Doctor: “Hey, Brother Cat, if you have time after you’re out, could you help me find a mate? Haha.”

Huang Jiafei shot him a look, pulled him close. “Listen, little brother, there’s something you should know.”

Doctor: “What’s that?”

Huang Jiafei: “Don’t push your luck.”

Doctor: “No, not at all. I’m just that kind of person. Haha.”

Just then, someone shouted, “Stop right there!”

The two turned around and saw they’d been discovered. Huang Jiafei showed no hesitation—he shoved the doctor toward the person, and both fell to the ground. The doctor howled in pain from the fall.
