Chapter Forty-Four: Old Wang Again
Prince Xuan looked helplessly at the leader.
The leader said, "That woman sure has a strong grip. Go on, break another one for me to see."
At that moment, dark smoke began to seep from Prince Xuan's hand as she held onto Hao Yingjun's wrist, and the joints crackled loudly.
The leader urged, "Go on, break another."
But before he could finish his sentence, Prince Xuan jabbed a visible laser pointer at him, shocking him speechless.
Supplementary note: The visible laser pointer also has an electric shock function.
The leader let out a miserable scream and collapsed instantly. The spectacle left Hao Yingjun beside him utterly terrified.
Hao Yingjun forced a wry smile and shook his head. "Sister, this is a bit rough. You should be more ladylike."
Prince Xuan shot him a scornful glance. "Save the nonsense. Come with me, right now. This instant."
She dragged Hao Yingjun out with her, completely unconcerned about the man still crawling on the ground.
After several groans, the leader finally managed to regain some composure. Clutching his shocked limb and gritting his teeth, he said, "Hurry up and apologize to me right now, and I'll let this go. Ouch."
Prince Xuan drove for several hours with Hao Yingjun, weaving through the streets until they stopped in an older neighborhood.
As she undid her seat belt, Prince Xuan recited in a dispassionate voice, "Trainee Handbook, Chapter One, Article One: All staff of Investigation Center, Supermarket 444, must remain on call twenty-four hours a day. Any notifications from headquarters must be answered immediately. Trainee Handbook, Chapter Two, Article Five: All actions by Supermarket 444 agents while on assignment must follow orders."
She turned a fierce gaze on Hao Yingjun.
He replied, "Understood."
Prince Xuan tossed him a box before getting out of the car herself. "Hold on to this."
On the rooftop, a man stood quietly, gazing into the distance. He slowly climbed onto a stool, then onto the ledge. Coiled ropes wound around his arms, and two transparent plastic bags were pulled over his head.
Prince Xuan called out, "Old Wang."
Old Wang spun around abruptly to see Prince Xuan storming toward him.
She barked, "Get down here."
Old Wang replied, "Is that you, the beautiful Miss Xuan!"
Prince Xuan marched over, grabbed him by the collar, and hauled him down before delivering a swift kick, immediately followed by a thorough beating.
"Can’t you just stay out of trouble, even for a moment? Can you, just for a moment?" she scolded between blows.
Hao Yingjun watched from behind, wincing at the sight.
When she finished, Prince Xuan ripped the plastic bags from Old Wang's head.
He said, "Miss Xuan, my dear! I had some new ideas I wanted to try. Being tied up can restrict blood flow, and prolonged suffocation leads to hypoxia and brain cell death. Then, if I jump from here, with Newton's law of free fall acceleration—it’s perfect. Maybe this time it might actually work."
He had barely finished before he saw Prince Xuan's fist coming for him again. He quickly closed his mouth and dodged, realizing she was only trying to scare him.
He straightened up and insisted, "It really could work, you know."
But Prince Xuan wasn't in the mood for any more of his nonsense. She turned to Hao Yingjun. "Why are you just standing there like a daft goose?"
Hao Yingjun pointed at himself, and Old Wang raised his hand as well.
Prince Xuan ordered, "Get over here and cuff him. Someone else will handle the aftermath."
Hao Yingjun greeted Old Wang politely and walked over, albeit somewhat hesitantly.
Prince Xuan snapped, "What are you being polite for? Get to work and be quick about it."
Standing before Old Wang, Hao Yingjun seemed a bit lost, unsure how to proceed.
