Chapter 151: Rescuing Master Mo (5)

Qianyin and Molan rose early that morning in search of something to eat. They went to the kitchen to see what the cooks had prepared. That day, the kitchen had made meatball porridge, with both meatballs and vegetarian ones. A sprinkling of chopped scallions on top completed the dish with its tempting color, fragrance, and flavor. Before the cook could even carry it out, the two girls washed their hands, picked up their bowls, served themselves, and began eating right there in the kitchen.
“Young ladies, you came back so late last night and didn’t eat anything. You must be starving.”
“I am pretty hungry. Thank you, Auntie,” Qianyin and Molan replied with smiles.
It was still early, and both girls were in high spirits, their faces blooming with smiles. Solving one troublesome matter meant they had taken another step toward defeating the boss.
Boss Jin had risen early as well, intending to travel to Nanjing with them. He first went to visit the Immortal Elder, greeted him, and helped water the medicinal herbs before coming over with him to find some breakfast.
The delicious aroma reached several people, but no food had appeared on the dining table, so they all made their way to the kitchen. As soon as they entered, they saw the two beautiful women sitting there and eating meatball porridge. Rolling up their sleeves, they sat down as well and smiled at the cook.
“We want meatball porridge too. Just serve it to us here.”
The cook smiled. “You should still eat outside. If the master and the others see you here later, they’ll be displeased. Besides, this goes against the household rules.”
“It’s fine. Let’s eat here,” Molan said. She thought eating in the kitchen was rather nice. There were not too many people, and the kitchen was spacious enough that no one felt crowded. It was so warm and homely this way—more like a real family. The living room outside was far too large; filling it would take several dozen people.
Seeing Molan nod, the cooks quickly calculated the portions and set bowls of porridge along the counter. After washing their hands, everyone sat directly on the cabinets and began eating without the slightest reserve.
The Immortal Elder thought it was an excellent idea. When he secluded himself again in the future, he would build a place with cabinets as well. Then there would be no need to eat in the living room. Dining on the cabinets had a charm of its own, and it felt wonderfully intimate.
The meatball porridge was delicious. After finishing their bowls, several of them had another serving, and everyone seemed to have an especially good appetite that day. The cook was delighted. For any chef, seeing people enjoy the food they had prepared was one of life’s greatest pleasures.
At last, everyone was full. Qianyin took several bottles of chilled drinks and handed one to each person. The Immortal Elder frowned and glared at her before scolding her with a smile.
“Drinking something this cold in the morning is bad for you. You’re all grown up—don’t you know that?”
“It’s only once in a while. It’s not as though I drink them all the time.” Qianyin paid him no mind. With a drink in hand, she ran outside, and Molan hurried after her. She smiled at the Immortal Elder, but because of what had happened with the Mo family, Molan had begun to feel a certain distance between them. There was now an unfamiliarity she had never sensed before.

The moment the two girls rushed outside, they saw An Feng sleeping on the sofa. He had not yet woken up, and his brow was deeply furrowed. He was dreaming about that person—the one he wanted to see, yet did not want to see.
Mischievously, Qianyin shoved Molan toward An Feng. Molan failed to notice and fell bodily onto him. The instant An Feng opened his eyes, he saw Molan lying on top of him. Up close, her face looked even more flawless.
Molan stared awkwardly at the face so near to hers, and her cheeks flushed bright red. An amorous tension filled the air between them. Laughing, Qianyin ran toward the courtyard. To her, however, the atmosphere was almost painfully glaring.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning.”
The two of them were so awkward that they had no idea what else to say, so they greeted each other in unison. This only made Molan more embarrassed. She immediately climbed off An Feng, while he carefully sat up.
The others arrived as well. They stood by the doorway, uncertain whether to retreat to the kitchen or come out and tease the pair. The Immortal Elder coughed, jolting the two people out of their silent stare.
Both of them pretended that nothing had happened and stood up, turning to look at the Immortal Elder without knowing what to say. The awkward atmosphere lingered. The Immortal Elder had broken their eye contact, but he had no idea how to bring the situation to an end.
Boss Jin and his two bodyguards simply found a spot farther away. The bodyguards said nothing; they had no intention of constantly involving themselves in these people’s affairs.
The painful cries of Master Mo rang out, followed by curses and the desperate pleas of two servants. Everyone hurried in that direction. Old Master Mo, who had just woken up, quickly washed and dressed before rushing out as well.
When they arrived, they saw several servants kneeling on the floor beside shattered bowls and scattered medicinal herbs. Master Mo was half lying, half sprawled on the bed, cursing furiously.
“What happened?”
Old Master Mo’s stern voice filled the room. With so many people arriving, the anger on Master Mo’s face finally subsided a little.
“Old Master, we were applying medicine to Master just now, but we accidentally hurt him. He became angry,” the two servants said shakily, not daring to raise their heads or look at Master Mo’s expression.
“It was clearly because these servants were incompetent. They nearly hurt me to death.” Master Mo did not care in the least. Lying on his stomach and relying on his injuries as an excuse, he flailed and raged like a ridiculous clown.
Old Master Mo was enraged. He stepped forward and slapped Master Mo across the face.
The crack of the blow stunned everyone present. Qianyin waved her hand to show that she had nothing to do with it, then turned and walked out again. The Immortal Elder cared more about the medicinal herbs scattered across the floor than he did about anyone else. He left without sparing Master Mo so much as a glance.
“Father, you hit me for the sake of these two servants?”
Clutching his cheek, Master Mo stared in disbelief. It was the first time his father had ever struck him. In his memory, his father had never even cursed at any of his children, much less beaten one of them.
“I did not hit you for the sake of those servants. I hit you because of what you have become. Do you remember who you are? Is anything you have done lately worthy of that status? Reflect on your actions properly.”
After saying this, Old Master Mo stormed out.
There was no reason for the others to remain either, so they left one after another. No one wanted to stay in that room, filled with the smell of medicine and another nauseating stench.
The two servants kneeling on the floor were at a loss. Unsure whether they should leave or continue applying the medicine, they remained kneeling in silence, trembling from head to toe.
A murderous glint flashed through Master Mo’s eyes. He lowered his head and said nothing, struggling to calm himself. Once he had regained control of his emotions, the two servants prepared fresh medicine and applied it to his wounds. This time, Master Mo did not make trouble. After all, his body was his own, and so were his injuries. If he failed to recover, it would have nothing whatsoever to do with anyone else.

An Feng, Qianyin, Molan, and Old Master Mo packed their luggage and set out together. Boss Jin shamelessly drove his car after them, with his two bodyguards following behind.
After Dong and the others returned, they were informed of what had happened and felt somewhat helpless. Nevertheless, they quietly continued guarding the Mo family and the Immortal Elder, unwilling to make Qianyin worry. As long as Qianyin had not openly broken with the Mo family, the family remained under their protection.
